A day of walking, library and playing with friends [ESP/ENG]

Hi everyone, after many days without walking to clear my head, and being focused on a mission to find some books (which I'll talk about in a separate post later), I finally managed to go on a short outing with some of my sister's friends. To be honest, we'd been waiting to get together, since they're the kind of friends you meet through text messages and only after a long time can you figure out how to meet up, how it's all in person, and so it was. So, to start the adventure of that day, we met at my house, since they're from another state, and from there we headed downtown to do some exploring.

Hola a todos, luego de muchos días sin caminar para despejar la mente, más que estar enfocada en una misión de encontrar unos libros (cosa de la que hablaré en un post distinto luego), se concretó una pequeña salida con algunos amigos de mi hermana que, la verdad, podría decirse que estábamos esperando poder reunirnos, ya que son de esas amistades que uno conoce por mensaje y luego de mucho es que podemos ver cómo reunirnos, cómo es en persona todo, y pues así fue. Así que, para empezar la aventura, aventura de ese día, nos reunimos en mi casa, ya que ellos son de otro estado, y de allí partimos al centro a curiosear un poco.

The plans for that day were clear: first, they would accompany me to the library to find out about something I'd been wondering about lately, and then we would go with the other girl who was with us to buy things for her boyfriend while he was at class or away for a while, since she wanted to surprise him. Our first stop was the library, and then a nearby pharmacy to get some water because of the strong sun. The thing is, since my errand didn't work out, and except for my sister, none of us had actually been in certain areas of the library, we decided to explore and see what we could find interesting.

Los planes para ese día eran claros: por una parte, me acompañarían a la biblioteca a averiguar sobre eso en lo que he estado pendiente últimamente, y luego acompañaríamos, en este caso a la otra chica que andaba con nosotros, a comprarle cosas para su novio en lo que este se fuera a clases o se distrajera un rato lejos, ya que quería hacerle la sorpresa, por lo que nuestra primera parada fue la biblioteca y también una farmacia cercana para buscar algo de hidratación por el fuerte sol. La cosa es que, como la diligencia que iba a hacer yo no se concretó y, a excepción de mi hermana, ninguno de nosotros había entrado como tal a ciertas zonas de la biblioteca, decidimos ir a explorar a ver qué veíamos de interesante.

Guided by my sister, we entered one of the main rooms where we explored and observed everything, as it was a very spacious and bright place. There were students and others there, so we were, of course, quiet. This room contained books and special collections for the various subjects taught at the university, so it was indeed designed for students. Furthermore, it's so enclosed that the cell phone signal is cut off upon entering, so you can't be distracted by anything other than books. We spent a lot of time there looking around and sharing some of the things we found, as well as talking about our progress in some of the classes we were familiar with.

Guiados por mi hermana, entramos a una de las salas principales donde estuvimos explorando y observando mucho todo, ya que, por una parte, era un sitio muy espacioso y también muy claro. Había estudiantes y demás, por lo que andábamos, obviamente, silenciosos. En esta sala estaban libros y colecciones especiales para las diversas materias que se ven en la universidad, por lo que en efecto estaba pensada para estudiantes. Además, es tan cerrada que al entrar se corta la señal de teléfono, por lo que no te puedes distraer con otra cosa que no sean libros. Allí estuvimos viendo mucho y compartiendo algunas cositas que encontrábamos, así como hablando acerca del progreso en algunas clases que conocíamos.

Luego de casi una hora de estar allí, salimos de la biblioteca y nos fuimos a caminar para buscar en algunas tiendas algún tipo de regalo ideal y para eso entramos en una tienda que vende productos electrónicos y demás, pero que aparte de eso también vende productos y cositas de anime, por lo que al entrar está repleta de mucha variedad y todos estuvimos totalmente inmersos viendo desde figuras, ropa, cosplay hasta pósters y más, con el hecho de que al llegar nos recibió una hermosa perrita que forma parte de la tienda, dejándose acariciar y la verdad la pasamos muy muy bien, aunque no terminamos comprando nada y solo estuvimos de curiosos.

We had already been walking for a few hours and were completely exhausted. The guy's boyfriend still hadn't left to buy her the promised gift. So, defeated, and while we rested our legs, we decided to go to a shopping mall that had an arcade. It was my first time in one of those places, so after they offered us an hour of playtime on the consoles and we took a short tour of the mall, we sat down and got down to business. It was my first time seeing a PlayStation 5, and the game I chose was Mortal Kombat XL. I remembered playing the classic versions, so I was excited.

Ya teníamos algunas horas fuera caminando y luego de eso quedamos exhaustos, por lo que a todas estas el novio de la chico no se había ido para comprarle el dichoso regalo; por lo que derrotados, y mientras descansábamos las piernas, se nos ocurrió ir a un centro comercial que tenía un área de juego y para mí era la primera vez en un sitio de estos, por lo que luego de que nos invitaran la hora de juego en las consolas y dar un pequeño recorrido por el sitio, nos sentamos a lo que íbamos, que era a jugar. Para mí era la primera vez viendo una Play 5 y el juego elegido fue Mortal Kombat XL, del cual yo recordaba jugar los clásicos, por lo que estaba emocionada.

The matches were quite close, as it took me a while to get used to the controls, but it was my girlfriend and me against her boyfriend and my sister, who were already experts at the game. Even so, I chose to play with my all-time favorite character in that series, Raiden, and I managed to win a few. We then moved on to a car game, but we all turned out to be terrible at it, and after a lot of laughter and a few jokes, the hour of gameplay ended. However, we had a great time, and for me, it was a fantastic experience.

Las partidas estuvieron bastante reñidas, ya que me costó acostumbrarme un poco al control, pero éramos la chica y yo contra su novio y mi hermana, que ya eran expertos en el juego. Aun así, elegí jugar con mi personaje favorito de toda la vida en esa saga, que es Raiden, y pude ganar algunas. Pasamos luego a un juego de carros, pero todos resultamos ser malos para ese y, luego de muchas risas y uno que otro chiste, terminó la hora de juego. Sin embargo, la pasamos muy bien y para mí fue una gran experiencia.

In the end, since it was getting late, they went back to the terminal to go home, and we went to ours. It was a great outing, full of laughter and stories, and although there wasn't any fast food like on other occasions with my sister, it was very different, relaxed, and I enjoyed it. Al final, como ya era tarde, ellos se devolvieron a la terminal para ir a su casa y nosotras a la nuestra, pero la verdad fue una gran salida llena de risas, cuentos y, aunque no hubo comida rápida como en otras ocasiones con mi hermana, estuvo muy diferente, tranquila y me gustó.
