The Fifth Avenue Clock, a relic in the heights [eng/spa]

Havana's Fifth Avenue is one of those streets that offer a pleasant visual environment to all those who walk along it, from its beginning to its end. Its long blocks are full of monuments, sculptures, parks and buildings with amazing architecture that do not go unnoticed. But among all these tourist attractions, one of the ones that stands out the most, and in my experience, is worth the visit, and as I often say, the photo session, is the Fifth Avenue Clock.

La quinta avenida de La Habana es una de esas calles que ofrecen un agradable entorno visual a todos los que la recorren, desde su inicio hasta su fin. Sus largas cuadras están llena de monumentos, esculturas, parques y edificaciones con una arquitectura asombrosa que no pasan desapercibidas. Pero entre todos estos atractivos turísticos, uno de los que más resalta, y que en mi experiencia, merece la pena la visita, y como digo a menudo, la sesión de fotos, es el Reloj de Quinta Avenida.

This tower is located between 10th and 12th streets, and is more than 20 meters high, so getting close to this building is quite impressive.
The first time I was told about the existence of this watch I did not know it personally, but every story I heard about it aroused my curiosity immediately. For example, I tell you that there is a popular belief that this clock is a replica of the English Big Ben.

Esta torre está ubicada entre las calles 10 y 12, y tiene más de 20 metros de altura, así que acercarse a esta edificación es bastante impresionante.
La primera vez que me contaron sobre la existencia de este reloj aún no lo conocía personalmente, pero cada historia que escuché al respecto despertó mi curiosidad inmediatamente. Por ejemplo, les cuento que existe una creencia popular que refiere que este reloj es una réplica del Big Ben inglés.

More than 30 years ago, this place was declared by the local authorities as the official symbol that distinguishes the municipality in which it is located, which is called Playa. In addition, it has the peculiarity that every 3 days, its watchmaker winds up the machine using the original mechanism of the manufacturer, which makes its patrimonial value more remarkable.

Hace más de 30 años, este lugar fue declarado por las autoridades locales como el símbolo oficial que distingue al municipio en el cual está enclavado, que se llama Playa.
