From the floating promenade to bicycle riding [eng/spa]

I consider that there are places that have a combination of attractions perfect for lovers of travel and new spaces, as is the case of Havana's floating promenade, and, just a few steps away, the impressive sculpture called "Contra viento y marea" (Against Wind and Tide).
This is a travel recommendation that invites relaxation, because the first thing the sea transmits is peace and calm; and if you watch it just when the city is waking up, the sensations multiply.

Considero que hay lugares que tienen una combinación de atractivos perfectos para los amantes de los viajes y los espacios nuevos, como es el caso del paseo marítimo flotante de La Habana, y, a sólo unos pasos, de la impresionante escultura llamada "Contra viento y marea".
Esta es una recomendación de viaje que invita a la relajación, pues lo primero que transmite el mar es paz y calma; y si se observa justo cuando la ciudad está despertando, las sensaciones se multiplican.

The floating promenade is my favorite place in the whole city. I remember with great emotion when they created this work, which from my point of view, provides a greater approach to the grandeur of the sea. This is a place of confluence for groups of friends, families and lovers who wish to see from another angle the beauty of a sunset in Havana. I have also noticed that it has become very popular to see fishermen early in the morning casting their nets.
The promenade is surrounded by a singular magic, on one side it has the popular alameda de Paula, and on the other, the immensity of the waters that bathe the Cuban coasts.

El paseo marítimo flotante es mis lugares preferidos en toda la ciudad. Recuerdo con mucha emoción cuando crearon esta obra, que desde mi punto de vista, proporciona un acercamiento mayor a la grandeza del mar. Este es un sitio de confluencia para grupos de amigos, familias y enamorados que desean ver desde otro ángulo la belleza de un atardecer en La Habana. También he observado que se ha vuelto muy popular ver a los pescadores muy temprano en la mañana lanzando sus redes.
El paseo está rodeado de una magia singular, de un lado tiene la popular alameda de Paula, y del otro, la inmensidad de las aguas que bañan las costas cubanas.

From some areas of the railing that protects the promenade, hang padlocks that people have been leaving on their visits. I remember with great emotion the first time I walked along the promenade, which gave me a feeling of adrenaline when I felt that with every step the ground moved at my feet.
When leaving the floating walkway, there is a group of maps that show the bicycle tours that are proposed throughout that area, and then, just a few meters away, the fascinating sculpture is located.

De algunas zonas de la baranda que protege el paseo, cuelgan candados que han ido dejando las personas en sus visitas. Yo recuerdo con mucha emoción la primera vez que caminé por el paseo, lo cual me provocó una sensación de adrenalina cuando sentí que a cada paso el piso se movía en mis pies.
Al salir del paseo flotante, hay un grupo de mapas que muestran los recorridos en bicicleta que se proponen por toda esa zona, y luego, a sólo unos metros, se ubica la fascinante escultura.

The sculpture "Against Wind and Tide" is located right in front of the old wood and tobacco warehouse, and like many of the most impressive works of art that adorn the streets of the city, it was inaugurated as part of the activities that took place at the Biennial where Havana was preparing to celebrate its 500 years of foundation. Besides the interesting thing about this piece that reaches more than 7 meters high, I must tell you that the artist who brought it to life was born in the city of Camagüey, just like me.
This enormous bicycle is driven by a woman, who conveys the impression from certain angles that she is about to take flight. To paraphrase the author herself, the work is inspired by the woman as an entity capable of driving and carrying out everything she sets out to do.

La escultura "Contra viento y marea" está ubicada justo en frente del antiguo almacén de la madera y el tabaco, y como muchas de las obras de arte más impresionantes que adornan las calles de la ciudad, fue inaugurada como parte de las actividades que se realizaron en la Bienal donde La Habana se preparaba para celebrar sus 500 años de fundación. Además de lo interesante que resulta esta pieza que alcanza más de 7 metros de altura, debo contarles que la artista que le dio vida es nacida en la ciudad de Camagüey, al igual que yo.
Esta enorme bicicleta está conducida por una mujer, que transmite la impresión desde determinados ángulos, que está a punto de alzar el vuelo. Parafraseando un poco lo expresado por la propia autora, la obra se inspira en la mujer como un ente capaz de impulsar y llevar a cabo todo lo que se propone.

Undoubtedly, walking along the floating promenade is a fun and different moment; and ending up watching a work of contemporary art becomes an experience. It is very enriching to get to know new places in our free time.
