Will the War End? - This War of Mine #9

avatar

Hello friends, I haven't been able to share my This War of Mine adventure with you much lately, but now it's time to get back to it. We have to keep fighting against the freezing cold and we have to win this war. We are doing well right now and I hope things will continue to go this way.

Day 27

We woke up to a cold morning and when I turned on the radio I saw a news report about it. It said that the temperature was still very low and it was getting harder to find firewood in the city. Do you know what that means? It will be much more difficult to get wood in barter now. I hope I can get enough wood from the places I go to loot. In other news, a mortar fell on a crowded shopping center in the city. There were many dead and wounded. We started the day with bad news and I hope it doesn't continue.

Nothing else happened during the day. My characters smoked, ate and rested. I am happy that we have come a long way so far. If we had no resources at the moment, we would be in a terrible situation. Fortunately, we have no problems except partly with wood and water. Normally I have the option to end days like this, but if I don't keep adding wood to the stove, my characters will get sick, so I slowly wait for the evening to come.

At night I decided to go to the hospital with Arica. I know from the games I've played before that you can get free treatment here. Bring your injured character to the hospital at night and the doctors will give you a bandage, but you have to give up the loot for the night. Unless you are unscrupulous enough to steal from the hospital.

I went through the trash around the hospital without stealing from people but I didn't find anything. I only found 2 cans of canned food. I donated one of them to the hospital, I'm sure the people here need it as much as we do. Two armed guards are waiting in front of the hospital. I hope they can keep the hospital running.

Day 28

We were attacked again at night. We used 6 bullets, we better find a source of bullets somewhere, otherwise we will have to throw roses at the people who came to rob us XD

Meat in the trap! That sounds like a lottery these days. We used to have plenty of meat, but now it's scarce. We need as many resources as possible, in a few days we may not be able to go looting at all.

I heard on the radio that the International Union has decided to intervene in our city. The operation is expected to start in two weeks! We are on day 28, so by day 42 the war may already be over. This is great news, my friends. When the war is over, the whole city will be at peace.

My barter friend arrived just in time. As I always say, he is my favorite of all the guests in the house. Just as I predicted, wood is now very valuable. I could have gotten all the wood for just a shotgun, but now I have to pay a lot for it. Damn it! I made the trade because I had to. It's hard to survive without wood.

Another thing I need is bullets. That's why I made 7 bullets, probably all of them will be used if they attack us tonight, but if I don't, it's worse.

I decided to make another trap, for the reason I told you above. In 2 weeks the war may be over so I have to hold on. I may not be able to go looting every day.

I decided to go to the toy store with Arica. I'm taking the axe with me because I'm going to try to break the furniture that can be broken there to get wood and firewood. I already know there is no danger there.

I can say that I found the things I wanted. Fertilizers for growing vegetables and parts of weapons in case I need to make an axe again in the future. The rest is for firewood already.

Day 29

A woman came and asked us to help her board up her windows. Her husband was taken away by the rebels and I cannot help someone in such a difficult situation. I sent Cveta to help her and I hope nothing bad happens to them.

Nothing else happened during the day. No news on the radio, no meat in the trap. Just a routine day. At night I decided to go to the destroyed toy store again, and I'll come back with the remaining firewood and maybe some small things I need.

And I did as I said I would. A few things to make bullets and the rest is wood! It was a quiet night and day. I hope it will continue to be so.

I think that's enough for this episode. Even though we started with bad news, we got some good news that will make us forget all about it. Is the war really going to end or is it just fake news? In 2 weeks we will know the truth. Wish me good luck. Thank you very much for reading. Don't forget to share your comments about the episode below. Take care and have a Merry Christmas my friends!
