Wedding Preparations #2 - Düğün Hazırlıkları #2 [EN-TR]
Wedding preparations are in full swing. In my previous post, I shared the design of my invitation with you and mentioned that we would be giving gifts to our guests. During this 14-day period, the invitations were distributed, and much more happened.
Let me start with the suit. Unfortunately, there aren’t many stores where I live, but I managed to find some quality suits. In one of last week's shows, I mentioned that I was considering wearing a tuxedo or a suit. I was thinking of wearing a navy blue suit because I wore black when we got engaged. However, after trying on a few suits, I realized that classic black is the most flattering color.
I also want to mention something else. At one of the stores I visited while shopping for a suit, the suit was dusty, and we told the store owner about it. He said that such things can happen. I asked how it could be cleaned, but he didn't answer. If he had said they would dry clean it or something, I could have bought that suit from there. Later, I went to another store, and the store owner wasn't there. There was only a small child in the store. I went back an hour later, and the same child was still there. If you're not going to be there to watch the store, why keep it open? You can't make money that way. Especially if it’s a store that sells suits. Because I need to see if it fits me, someone needs to take measurements for my suit, and if necessary, I need to be able to have it altered, right? Or I need to be able to have the pants shortened. These things were really frustrating.
Still, I’m happy I was able to find a suit that I liked. The suit, shoes, and a few other items cost me around 10,000 TL. That’s about 250 dollars. My girlfriend also bought a wedding dress, which cost around 35,000 TL. In our country, there’s a tradition where the groom buys the wedding dress and the bride buys the suit for the groom. I don’t know if other countries have such traditions. You can share your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, in our country, it’s believed that seeing the bride in her wedding dress before the wedding brings bad luck. That’s why I haven’t seen her in her wedding dress yet, so you won’t either :P
Apart from that, the invitations arrived, and we folded them as they should be. They aren't ready to be distributed when they arrive. Luckily, my aunt, uncle, father, mother, and brother-in-law were there with me, and together we managed to prepare 500 invitations in a few hours. The rest was much more challenging.
We distributed these invitations to three villages over two days. On the first day, I walked 12,500 steps, and the weather was the hottest I’ve seen in recent days. Actually, I’ve never seen my village this hot before. I have no idea why that is. According to the weather app on my phone, it’s currently 5 degrees above the seasonal average. Usually, it’s around 30 degrees here, but right now it feels like 35 degrees. Walking 12,500 steps in this heat was twice as exhausting as walking in any other temperature. I sweated a lot, but I’m happy that I successfully distributed all the invitations by the end of the day. I’d be happy if more people came to my wedding. On the second day, I went to even hotter villages and walked around 8,000 steps. I felt worse than on the first day. At one point, I even thought I might faint, but fortunately, nothing like that happened.
What’s next? I’ll be ordering fireworks for the wedding, and there are a few other small things to take care of. However, I’ve already handled most of the major tasks. I hope everything goes smoothly and we have a beautiful wedding.
Thank you so much for reading. Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments. I’m always open to wedding advice!

You are looking so smart!! I'm surprised you hadn't bought your suit earlier, it is you're wedding after all!
We don't have that custom, neither in England nor in Hong Kong. Many regions in Hong Kong/ China have their own odd wedding customs. Like when my two friends got married, both parents said the other family should buy a suitcase for the bride. In the end, both ended up buying one and the bride got two new suitcases

That's very strange. It would make more sense to give two dresses instead of two suitcases, or two pairs of shoes. Or give the bride money to buy whatever she wants. Actually, I don't have much right to talk about this, because we have some very strange customs in Turkey too, haha.
You've been curated by @plantpoweronhive! Delegations welcome!
Thanks for curating ^^
Greetings @incublus ,
What an interesting lively post.
Lovely....such a good decision to go with the black tuxedo and patent leather shoes as they are best with a tux.
Happy to hear you were able to meet the goal of distributing so many invitations.
Wishing you and yours well.
Bleujay
Thank you so much dear @bleujay. Classics never disappoints you :)
Great suit! You really look like a gentlemen! You're future wife isn't on Hive is she? Or isn't it a tradition in Turkye that the wife doesn't het to see the suite before the wedding?
And 500 wedding invitations!? Man, that is going to be some party!
Good luck with the preparations! When is the actual wedding date?
Actually, she's not very active on Hive these days. I'll make sure she becomes more active after we get married, haha.
Before getting married, a woman can see the man in a suit. I even sent her a photo :P
There will be 2 weddings, one on July 19 and the second one on July 26.
That may be a tradition somewhere else then. Then you at least know she likes the suit too.
Two days of weddings. Wow. A lot of work, but twice the fun!
Yeah she liked it, I'm happy about it.
Let's hope both of them goes well 😂
OMG 500 invitations sounds crazy! With such long distance route I think I'd took bicycle especially if it needed to move to another place.
If to talk about wedding suits I have several stories which maybe even can be published as a separate post))
The first one is a story of my friend and how he choose his wedding suit. He passed through several shops to try choose the best one! But in one there wasn't needed size in another one there wasn't needed colour. And finally in one of the shops he found one blue suit. He was thinking to take it or not. And then - TADAMS! he looked at the lining of his jacket. And when he saw that there were cucumbers on the lining, then he realized that he fell in love with this suit and wanted to be at the wedding only in it. And by the way in this year he'll celebrate 10 years since he married!
The second one story is about me.
At first I could not choose a suit by color for a long time, then when I decided with the color was necessary to find the right size, because I needed a suit not quite standard height and the right sleeve length. After that, it was a long search for shoes because it requires a size 47 or 48. The selection of shoes took a couple more days. And finally the selection of a wedding dress for the bride. Oooh it was a very long process.... We came to the area where wedding dresses are sold, there were many different styles and sizes. At first my wife and her mom went and just looked at the dresses then began to look at them more carefully. And finally the fitting. When my wife measured the dress it was a separate story. Good that I was there not alone and we with my companion had time to get hungry first, have lunch in a cafe, and even take the subway to another part of the city and a little to complete my business, which I needed. And when we got back, my wife was still picking out her dress. I'll keep a little silent about the shoe selection ;)
And the third story is about my wife's relative whom we helped to select suit too.
First, we went to a chain store that sells regular costumes and there wasn't anything worth buying. Then we went to a store that sold holiday and wedding costumes, then moved to another store. Here his sister, who was with us, tired of trying on, began to hurry him only if he had already bought something. Here I honestly stood up for the groom, as I understand that this is an important and responsible thing for him and he wants to choose the suit in which he will be comfortable and convenient at the wedding! After all, he was to spend the whole day in this suit and not only at the ceremony, but also to be in it at the photo session and dance with the bride.
And finally, if we talk about traditions and customs, not all of them are clear to me. For example, I don't understand the superstition that the groom should not see the bride in her wedding dress. If we approach from a rational point of view, how the fact that the groom saw the bride before the wedding in a dress can affect happiness and success? But it's just my opinion, and be honest my wife believes is such things
Maybe I'm biased, but there are no definitive statistics or examples.
Or for example there is such a tradition of young people to bite bread at the same time and as some believe who bites more, the one who will lead the family.
But again from a rational point of view, does it affect which piece you bite how the future life will turn out? After all, the main thing is mutual respect and understanding in the family. And everything else depends on ourselves!
By the way Wedding traditions can become theme of next Friday show ;)
Looking good man
Thank you so much man
