Hello, those who love to travel and see the places traveled. It's been a long time since I've posted in this community, but there's something strange, whenever I want to write a travel post, I get a strange feeling inside and I can't write. Ok, just kidding, I guess I'm just being lazy, but I'm over it! I mean, I must be over it if you are reading this post haha. I will share with you the Ephesus Ancient City, which I visited months ago and which fascinated me.

The ancient city is quite far from the city center and I recommend you to go with your own car. Cars have a reasonable parking fee and after paying this, you can visit the ancient city with your museum card. There are many shops where you can shop before passing through the toll booths.

The first things you will notice are these informative signs that tell you about the first settlement of Ephesus, its changes over the centuries and its importance. Because the city was so important, many kingdoms fought over it, so it has many historical artifacts from different nations.

The first new information I learned in Ephesus was about the Milestones. This is not a term that talks about development, these stones show the distance to a settlement on the road. Nowadays, when we travel from one city to another in our country, signs showing how far we are from one place to another are very common and make our lives easier. I didn't know this was discovered thousands of years ago, it sounds crazy. In the photo below you can see many milestones.

As in every settlement, there is a cemetery here and there are many graves from the past that have survived unharmed. Did you know that in the past these sarcophagi also showed the status of people? You must have known because I told you this before. Ephesus was a port city, so you can see marine symbols on the sarcophagi here.

Here is a close-up of some of the sarcophagi. There are some very impressive ones and there are inscriptions on them. It probably says who they belonged to, but I'm not sure. Some people throw stones into the sarcophagi without lids. I would like to hope that it was little children because my little cousin tried to do that. I hope that a conscious person would not want to damage a historical monument in this way.

This is the harbor of Ephesus, in other words, the gateway of Ephesus to the Mediterranean. Is this how you call it @rubencress? I would have loved to meet you here, my friend, but unfortunately, due to the time difference, I was able to come a month after you left. I am an unlucky person, anyway, I hope to see you next time. I imagined this place as it was centuries ago, fishermen selling fish on both sides, people getting off the ships docking at the harbor and a crowd everywhere.

Here are my little cousin and my aunts. The view is so beautiful that they really wanted to take pictures here. There is a huge ancient theater in the background. Don't worry, you will see it more closely in a moment!

Of course, I took a photo with this sweet little girl beforehand. It is true that I have a little belly but you can be sure that I have lost those kilos these days. Anyway, let's enjoy the moment XD I wonder how my cousin will feel when she sees this photo years later.

There is a fountain here from the Hellenistic period. Even though it doesn't look like it exists now, it says so on the information sign. Unfortunately, the pool part where the water is collected has not survived until today.

I've shared cat photos from every place I've visited so far, and here a little friend was relaxing in the sun. It was so cute and I wanted to pet but it was sleeping and I couldn't interrupt that.

The stairs of the ancient theater are really tiring but they make you feel the atmosphere. Everything there smells of history and makes you feel the history. When we were there a young woman fell on the stairs because some of the steps were very slippery.

You want to see it from higher up? Done. Look how small the people look. Thanks to the wide angle of my camera, this kind of photos look much better. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to fit the whole ancient theater in one frame. The stairs here are much more dangerous than the ones before, by the way. Some of them are very narrow and if you are not careful you can slip and tumble. Unfortunately, I didn't see anyone tumbling...

A tour guide there was telling people about the acoustics of the theater. One of the great features of this ancient theater is that it spreads sound very well. The nobles sat at the bottom, the commoners in the middle and the slaves at the top. The person sitting in the front and the person sitting in the back hear almost the same sound. From the stairs of the ancient theater, the surroundings looked very beautiful. I was happy that I took some photos to share this view with you. I would have loved to examine all the historical artifacts you see below one by one but my aunt and cousin were already tired and started to whine haha. So I didn't examine them one by one, I just took a look.

Here you can take a look at the history and architectural information of the ancient theater you just saw. It didn't surprise me that it was once used as a gladiator arena. It gave me that feeling from the first moment I walked in.

Then we continued walking on this road full of historical columns. Our adventure was just beginning!

The ancient city of Ephesus is too big for me to tell you in one piece. There is so much more to see, but we can end the first part here. Merhabalar gezmeyi ve gezilen yerleri görmeyi sevenler. Bu toplulukta paylaşım yapmamın üzerinden çok uzun zaman geçti ancak garip bir şey var, ne zaman bir gezi yazısı yazmak istesem içimde garip bir his oluyor ve yazamıyorum. Antik kent şehir merkezine oldukça uzak ve ben kendi arabanızla gitmenizi tavsiye ederim. Arabaların makul bir park ücreti var ve bunu ödedikten sonra müze kartınızla antik kenti gezebilirsiniz. Gişelerden geçmeden önce alışveriş yapabileceğiniz çok sayıda dükkan var.

İlk dikkatinizi çekecek şeyler Efes'in ilk yerleşim yerinden, yüzyıllar boyu değişiminden ve öneminden bahseden bu bilgilendirme levhaları. Şehir çok önemli olduğu için pek çok krallık savaşmış bu yüzden farklı milletlerden pek çok tarihi esere sahip.

Efes'te öğrendiğim ilk yeni bilgi de Mil taşları. Bu bir gelişimden bahseden bir tabir değil, bu taşlar yolun üzerinde bir yerleşim yerine olan uzaklığı gösteren taşlar. Günümüzde ülkemizde bir şehirden diğerine seyahat ederken oraya ne kadar uzaklıkta olduğumuzu gösteren levhalar çok yaygın ve hayatımızı kolaylaştırıyor. Bunun bin yıllar önce keşfedildiğini bilmiyordum. Kulağa çılgınca geliyor. Alttaki fotoğrafta pek çok mil taşını görebilirsiniz.

Her yerleşim yerinde olduğu gibi burada da mezarlık var ve geçmişten bugüne zarar görmeden gelen çok fazla mezar var. Bu lahitlerin geçmişte aynı zamanda insanların statüsünü gösterdiğini biliyor muydunuz? Biliyor olmalısınız çünkü bunu size daha önce söylemiştim. Efes bir liman kenti olduğu için buradaki lahitlerin üzerinde denize dair motifler görebilirsiniz.

İşte bazı lahitlerin yakından görünüşü. Çok etkileyici olanlar var ve üzerinde yazılar var. Muhtemelen kime ait olduğu yazıyordur ama emin değilim. Kapağı olmayan lahitlerin içine taş atanlar var. Bunu yapanların küçük çocuklar olduğunu ummak istiyorum çünkü küçük kuzenim de bunu yapmaya çalıştı. Bilinçli bir insan bir tarihi esere bu yolla zarar vermek istemez diye umut ediyorum.

Burası Efes Limanı, bir başka değişle Efes'in Akdeniz'e açılan kapısı. Sen öyle mi söylemiştin @rubencress? Seninle burada buluşmayı çok isterdim dostum ama maalesef zaman farkından dolayı sen ayrıldıktan 1 ay sonra gelebildim. Şanssız bir insanım, her neyse bir sonraki sefere görüşürüz umarım. Buranın yüzyıllar önceki halini hayal ettim, iki tarafta balıkçılar balık satıyor, limana yanaşan gemilerden insanlar iniyor ve her yerde bir kalabalık var.

İşte bahsettiğim küçük kuzenim ve halamlar. Manzara o kadar güzel ki burada fotoğraf çekmeyi çok istediler. Arkada devasa bir antik tiyatro var. Merak etmeyin birazdan daha yakından göreceksiniz!

Tabi ki öncesinde bu tatlı ufaklıkla bir fotoğraf da ben çektim. Biraz göbeğim olduğu doğru ama şu günlerde o kiloları verdiğimden emin olabilirsiniz. Her neyse, anın tadını çıkaralım XD Yıllar sonra kuzenim bu fotoğrafı gördüğünde ne hissedecek çok merak ediyorum.

Burada helenistik dönemden kalma bir çeşme var. Şu anda var gibi görünmese de bilgi levhasında öyle yazıyor. Maalesef suyun toplandığı havuz kısmı günümüze kadar dayanmamış.

Bugüne kadar her gittiğim yerden kedi fotoğrafları paylaştım, burada da minik bir dostumuz güneşte gevşiyordu. Çok tatlıydı ve sevmeyi isterdim ancak uyuyordu ve bunu bölemezdim.

Antik tiyatronun merdivenleri gerçekten yorucu ama size atmosferi hissettiriyor. Gerçi oradaki her şey tarih kokuyor ve size tarihi yaşatıyor. Dikkatli olun düşebilirsiniz! Biz oradayken genç bir kadın merdivenlerde düştü çünkü bazı basamaklar çok kaygandı.

Daha yüksekten mi görmek istiyorsunuz? Tamamdır. İnsanların ne kadar küçük göründüğüne bakın. Kameramın geniş açı özelliği sayesinde bu tarz fotoğraflar çok daha güzel görünüyor. Aksi takdirde antik tiyatronun tamamını tek bir kareye sığdıramazdım. Buradaki merdivenler az öncekilerden çok daha tehlikeli bu arada. Bazıları çok dar ve dikkatli olmazsanız kayıp yuvarlanabilirsiniz. Ne yazık ki yuvarlanan birini göremedim...

Orada bir tur rehberi insanlara tiyatronun akustiğinden bahsediyordu. Bu antik tiyatronun en büyük özelliklerinden biri sesi çok iyi yayması. Tiyatroda en alt kısımda soylular, orta tarafta halk ve en üstte de köleler oturuyormuş. En önde oturan kişi ile en arkada oturan kişi neredeyse aynı sesi duyuyor. Bunu deneyen bir Youtuber videosunu çekmiş. Buradan kontrol edebilirsiniz.

Antik tiyatronun merdivenlerden de etraf çok güzel görünüyordu. Bu manzarayı sizlerle de paylaşabilmek adına birkaç fotoğraf çekmiş olmam beni mutlu etti. Aşağıda gördüğünüz tarihi eserlerin hepsini tek tek incelemeyi çok isterdim ama halam ve kuzenim çoktan yorulup mızmızlanmaya başlamışlardı bile haha. O yüzden onları tek tek incelemedim, sadece bir göz gezdirdim.

Buradan da az önce gördüğünüz antik tiyatronun tarihine ve mimari bilgisine göz atabilirsiniz. Buranın bir zamanlar gladyatör arenası olarak kullanılmış olması beni şaşırtmadı. İçeri girdiğim ilk andan itibaren bana o hissiyatı vermişti.

Daha sonra her yanı tarihi sütunlarla dolu bu yolda yürümeye devam ettik. Maceramız daha yeni başlıyordu!

Efes Antik Kenti size tek parça halinde aktaramayacağım kadar büyük. Daha görmeniz gereken çok şey var ama ilk bölümü burada bitirebiliriz.
