A few days ago, in a comment under a post, I mentioned to @trumpman that I was afraid of grasshoppers when I was a child and that I would share a story about it. I have decided to turn this into a series. The things I experienced as a child are very distant memories for me, and I remember very few details about them, and as time goes by, I forget even more details. If I turn them into a series and share them on Hive, even if I forget them, I can come back here and read them again, right?

When I was 4-5 years old, I was afraid of all kinds of insects. I don’t know why, I was just afraid. However, I didn’t have the chance to stay away from them. There was always work to be done in the fields and gardens, and since they couldn't leave me and my brother at home, we always went with them. This didn't reduce my fear of insects; on the contrary, it increased it. There were very strange centipedes, worms, and shelled insects. One day we went to my grandparents' house and were harvesting crops there. Crops were a source of income for us back then. Our fields were large, and the work took more than a few days. We had to stay there. Everyone was so tired that by 10 p.m., the adults were already asleep. But I still had energy because I had been playing all day.

My grandparents' nightlight was a small LED lamp. And I saw a huge grasshopper on it. I couldn't believe my eyes—it was like a nightmare, but I was sure I had seen the grasshopper. I tried to wake my mother, but she didn't care. She kept telling me to go back to sleep and that I was imagining things. After a lot of effort, I finally managed to wake her up, but everyone in the house was already awake. Of course, I was right—it really was a huge grasshopper. Now that I think about it, it was probably about 10 cm long, but at the time, it felt like 30 cm. It was bigger than my hand. They told me to hide under the blanket while they tried to catch it. There was a commotion inside the house, and it lasted about 15 minutes. Eventually, they caught the grasshopper and killed it. My uncle kept touching the blanket to scare me, and I was screaming. Now, when I think about it, it seems very funny, but at the time, it was like a nightmare. Fortunately, I haven't seen such a large grasshopper since that day, nor do I remember being afraid of any grasshoppers.

That's my memory of the giant grasshopper. I'll turn this into a series and continue to talk about the interesting and funny things I experienced as a child. This is also my diary.

Geçtiğimiz günlerde bir gönderinin altında @trumpman'a çekirgelerden çocukken korktuğumu ve onunla ilgili bir hikaye anlatacağımı söylemiştim. Bunu bir seri haline getirmeye karar verdim. Çocukken yaşadığım şeyler benim için çok uzak anılar ve onlara dair çok az detay hatırlıyorum ve gün geçtikçe daha çok detay unutuyorum. 4-5 yaşlarındayken her türlü böcekten korkuyordum. Neden olduğunu bilmiyorum, sadece korkuyordum işte. Ancak onlardan uzak durmak gibi bir şansım yoktu. Sürekli bağ ve bahçe işleri oluyordu ve beni ve kardeşimi evde bırakamayacakları için hep birlikte gidiyorduk. Bu benim böceklerden korkumu azaltmıyordu tam tersi artırıyordu. Çok garip kırkayaklar, solucanlar ve kabuklu böcekler vardı. Bir gün anneannemlere gitmiştik ve orada ekin biçiyorduk. Ekin o yıllarda bizim için bir geçim kaynağıydı. Tarlalarımız büyüktü ve işler birkaç günden fazla sürüyordu. Orada kalmamız gerekti. Herkes o kadar yorgundu ki saat akşam 10 olduğunda yetişkinler uyumuş oluyordu. Oysa ben gün boyu sadece oyun oynadığım için hala enerjim oluyordu.

Anneannemlerin gece lambası minik bir led lambasıydı. Ve üzerinde kocaman bir çekirge gördüm. Gözlerime inanamadım bir çeşit karabasan gibiydi ama çekirgeyi gördüğümden emindim. Annemi uyandırmaya çalışıyordum ama onun hiç umurunda değildi. Bana sürekli uyumamı ve hayal gördüğümü söylüyordu. Çok uzun uğraşlar sonucunda onu uyandırmayı başardım ama evdeki herkes uyanmıştı. Elbette haklıydım gerçekten de devasa bir çekirgeydi. Şimdi düşününce muhtemelen 10 cm boyutundaydı ama o günlerde 30 cm gibi hissediyordum. Elimden daha büyüktü. Bana yorganın altında saklanmamı söylediler ve avlamaya çalışıyorlardı. Evin içinde bir koşuşturma vardı ve 15 dakika kadar sürdü. Sonunda çekirgeyi yakaladılar ve öldürdüler. Dayım sürekli yorganın üstüne dokunarak beni korkutmaya çalışıyordu ve ben çığlık atıyordum. Şimdi hatırlayınca çok komik geliyor ama o zamanlar kabus gibiydi. Neyse ki o günden sonra o kadar büyük bir çekirge görmedim ya da herhangi bir çekirgeden korktuğumu hatırlamıyorum.

Dev çekirgeyle olan anım bu kadar. Bunu bir seri haline getireceğim ve çocukken yaşadığım enteresan, komik olaylardan bahsetmeye devam edeceğim. Burası aynı zamanda benim günlüğüm.
