It's been a while since my last post about soccer. Since then, even though I continue to watch it, I waited for something to change to write about it and I think something has changed today with the team I support.

Last night there was the Galatasaray-Antalyaspor match. For those who don't know, I couldn't watch the whole match because I was directing a show on Fridays. I missed between the 30th and 55th minute and there were 4 goals in this interval. Technically I missed all the goals in the match, but I can say that there was a big improvement in the game in the minutes I watched. I saw that the ambition of the players increased and they were playing with more enthusiasm. There was also an increase in physicality. Especially Barış Alper Yılmaz showed again yesterday that he has a physique above the league. He passed well past the opposition defenders and it was an easy game for Osimhen. He scored two very easy goals and one against the goalkeeper. Yunus Akgün was the player who made the pass in the face-to-face position. His return is very positive for the team because unfortunately Galatasaray have very few creative players. When one or two of them are missing, Galatasaray find it very difficult to produce. 4 goals scored and a couple of missed chances is productive enough, isn't it? There is a metric in football called expected goals. It represents the rate at which the positions you enter are converted into goals. Yesterday Galatasaray had more than 4 goal expectations. So it shows that the positions taken were of good quality. Sometimes the team you support can score 5 goals from 1 goal expectancy and these can be goals scored from distance by talented players. Other times you may not score from 4 goal expectations, indicating that your team's scorers were unlucky or incompetent that day.

Talking about the team's productivity, I still don't think it's at its best but I'm happy to see at least a recovery. As I said before, I think this decline is due to the technical staff, but I also think that the team has been overburdened. You can't send the manager of a team that has been champion for 2 years when it is still in first place in the league in its 3rd year. It takes a few weeks for a new coach to come in and get used to the team, and in the meantime the team can get out of the race or fall behind. Moreover, I saw that all the players support Okan Buruk. It would not be right to send a coach who is supported by the players. Now we have a national break ahead of us and I expect the team to get physically better in the meantime. Going into this break in good spirits will also increase the motivation of the team. There are very important matches on the way back, and if Galatasaray can win these few matches in a row, they will definitely finish the league as champions. Next year we all expect Galatasaray to be successful in the European Cups and not to repeat the mistakes that were made.

Dün akşam Galatasaray-Antalyaspor maçı vardı. Bilmeyenler için ben Cuma günleri bir şov yönettiğim için maçın tamamını izleyemedim. 30. dakika ile 55. dakika arasını kaçırdım ve bu aralıkta tam 4 tane gol oldu. Teknik olarak maçtaki bütün golleri kaçırdım ama izlediğim dakikalarda oyuna dair büyük bir gelişim olduğunu söyleyebilirim. Futbolcuların hırsının arttığını ve daha istekli oynadıklarını gördüm. Fiziksel olarak da bir yükseliş vardı. Özellikle Barış Alper Yılmaz dün ligin üstünde bir fiziğe sahip olduğunu tekrar gösterdi. Rakip savunmacıların yanından geçip iyi paslar verdi ve Osimhen için kolay bir maç oldu. İki tane çok kolay gol ve bir tane de kaleciyle karşı karşıya pozisyonda gol attı. Karşı karşıya kaldığı pozisyonda pası veren oyuncu Yunus Akgün'dü. Onun dönüşü takımı çok pozitif etkiliyor çünkü maalesef Galatasaray'da çok az yaratıcı oyuncu var. Bunlardan bir iki tanesi eksildiğinde Galatasaray üretmekte çok zorlanıyor. 4 gol atılmış olması ve birkaç tane de kaçan pozisyon olması yeterince üretken olduğunu gösterir değil mi? Futbolda gol beklentisi adında bir metrik var. Girdiğiniz pozisyonların gole dönüşme oranını temsil ediyor. Dün Galatasaray 4'ten fazla gol beklentisine sahipti. Yani girilen pozisyonların kaliteli olduğunu gösteriyor. Bazen desteklediğiniz takım 1 gol beklentisinden 5 gol de atabilir ve bu yetenekli futbolcuların uzaktan attığı goller olabilir. Bazen de 4 gol beklentisinden gol atamayabilirsiniz bu da takımınızın golcülerinin o gün şanssız ya da beceriksiz olduğunu gösterir.

Takımın üretkenliğinden bahsetmişken hala en iyi seviyede olduğunu düşünmüyorum ama en azından bir toparlanma görmek beni mutlu etti. Daha önce de söylediğim gibi bu düşüşün teknik kadrodan kaynaklandığını düşünüyorum ama takıma da fazla yüklenildiğini düşünüyorum. 2 yıl şampiyon olan bir takım 3. yılında hala ligde birinci sıradayken teknik direktörü gönderilemez. Yeni bir teknik direktörün gelmesi ve takıma alışması zaten birkaç hafta sürer ve bu esnada takım yarıştan kopabilir ya da geriye düşebilir. Üstelik bütün futbolcuların da Okan Buruk'u desteklediğini gördüm. Futbolcuların desteklediği bir teknik direktörü göndermek de doğru olmaz. Şimdi önümüzde bir milli ara var ve bu arada takımın fiziksel olarak daha iyi seviyeye çıkmasını bekliyorum. Bu araya moralli girmek takımın motivasyonunu da artıracaktır. Dönüşte çok önemli maçlar var, bu birkaç maçı üst üste kazanabilirse Galatasaray ligi mutlaka şampiyon tamamlayacaktır. Önümüzdeki yıl hepimizin beklentisi Galatasaray'ın artık avrupa kupalarında da başarılı olması ve yapılan yanlışların tekrarlanmaması.
