Council Convenes for Future of the City - Frostpunk 2

Hi gamers, I hope you're enjoying your coffee in your cozy house because when I play Frostpunk I'm trying to keep people alive who are about to freeze to death. I love getting caught up in the atmosphere when I play this game.

To summarize the previous chapter, we reached the coal mines in the city and activated the generator, which was welcomed in the city. We continue our frost conquests in the city and try to build shelters for people. We built a research center and now the community is debating whether we should build a pulverized coal mine or an explosive coal mine.

When I had enough heat stamps I did a review and for now I decided to do what the majority of people in the community say. A blast coal mine means less manpower and more coal, but it also means more misery and more material use.

It's very punishing even if you play the game on easy level. You have to choose very carefully what you prioritize. I wanted to do some research and now I see that someone froze to death, it's very disturbing.

People are outraged and want me to raise the temperature of the city as soon as possible, build housing zones and mine more coal.

I have built the new building I researched and people liked it, but now they want us to have a council where the decisions we make are approved. If the majority of the community doesn't support my decision, it won't matter what I do anymore. So I have to keep on good terms with them.

The first decision of the council will be whether I am qualified to be the leader of this community. Come on! I have done a lot for this community and I promise I will continue to do so.

That's a really cool image! The Council has convened...

There are now 22 people in favor of my leadership and 4 people against me. 74 people are abstaining. If I start the vote this way, I'll probably be elected captain, but I don't want to take that risk. You can get the abstentions to vote for you by choosing the negotiate option, but of course you have to make a promise in return.

I wanted New Londoners to vote yes because they have the most abstentions. I could make 3 different pledges, I made a promise to build another explosive coal mine which I have already researched. It's not a very challenging promise for now, I hope it won't be in the future.

With the abstentions, I got 78 votes out of 100 and I am still the captain! You will see in the future what I will do with those who did not vote... Just kidding, this is a democratic city xd

As you can see, I kept my promise and people are happy about it.

It's very difficult to keep things going in the city. Now we have to go out and explore. I built a logistics zone and I saw people just outside the city who were outcasts, and of course I welcomed them into my city because I need a lot more labor force.

I sent some of my scouts to the Hills to explore, where we can find more people, pre-produced materials and other things that will be useful to us in the future.

I need to make this city completely stable and self-sufficient. Right now I'm getting fewer heat stamps than I should because I can't keep up with people's demand for goods, which also increases misery. As you can see on the top screen, I am currently in a bad situation in terms of shelter, food supplies and goods. If I don't get these things sorted out as soon as possible, people may regret electing me and change their minds.

Right now I don't have enough manpower for the city to be self-sufficient, so it makes sense to increase reconnaissance teams. Maybe I can find more people or resources. I can't think of anything else.

What is this girl saying! She's a street kid and bullies other kids in the community. She wants a fight with knives. If I don't pass a law regulating children, things will continue to get worse in the city.

I look at the city from a distance and it looks very vibrant. I think that's enough progress for this episode. I guess the next chapter will be about exploration and if I can convince the council I will pass more laws. Thank you very much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it. Don't forget to share your thoughts with me in the comments. Take care and have a great day!

I saw a review on the sequel that said that the game features a more political dynamic that has the game sometimes working with and against you in different ways, where sometimes the people or government want to push certain changes that actually slow you down or don't really benefit them depending on the city's current problems. The first one didn't really have that, but I can see how it adds a lot more variety and challenge to the game.

The first one was a challenge, but definitely felt a bit thin with the way you can quickly make decisions and people may not like them, but can't necessarily stop them from taking place.

I'll have to pick this one up once I'm not relying on my Macbook for games. :^)

This game is really more challenging than the other one because some mechanics prevent you from doing everything you want. You can't set all the laws to whatever you want. Thanks for stopping by

This game looks good. This type of game is a challenge that the city is self-sufficient. The map looks giant and I want to see when you explore it.

Oh so sorry man, I see that Frostpunk really knows how to stress you out 🤣 One minute you're a hero, the next, people are ready to kick you out. I hope the abstentions don’t backstab you later man 🙏

Haha no one can guarantee that, I feel like I could be assassinated at any moment, I don't know if that would really happen, I've never tried it, thanks for stopping by!
