2 Star Kogmaw Better Than 3 Star? TFT Set 15

When playing reroll compositions in TFT, it's not all about getting 3 stars. The right items, the right positioning, and the right power fruits make a huge difference. You might even see 2-star champions beating their 3-star counterparts. This game is an example of that.

I forgot to record the start of this game, but this game is set in a universe where there will be three gold augment—that's all. There's nothing particularly interesting about it.

I chose Replication as my first augment. This augment lets you pick one item from three component items and gain three copies of that item.

I lost three fights and won two. There's no winning or losing streak. I didn't have a great early game.

I chose Howling Gale as my second augment. This augment creates a whirlwind that blows enemies into the air for every 550 mana your team spends. So it's a good choice if your team lacks crowd control effects and spends a lot of mana. You don't actually spend much mana in a Kog'Maw composition, but there wasn't a better choice.

The last thing you want when playing a Kog'Maw composition is for someone else to play the same composition. Then it becomes impossible to get this champion to 3 stars, and especially if your opponent is a terrible player and plays the game below 0, you might end up losing if they get a bit lucky. Let's see who the winner and loser of this game will be.

For the final augment, I chose Blazing Soul. This augment grants ability power and attack speed to your champion with the highest attack speed. It's a suitable augment for the Kogmaw composition.

Sometimes, to fight monkeys, you have to act like them. But if you're not as lucky as the monkeys, it leads to worse results. I searched down to 0, but I could only get a 2-star Kog'Maw. I couldn't even find a 4-star Kog'Maw. Meanwhile, my opponent had already found 6. How? By searching down to 0 before me.

Interestingly, I can still win like this. My opponent's composition is one of the strongest compositions in the meta, Star Guardian. This is certainly no coincidence. Even though I couldn't get 3 stars, I chose the most appropriate items. Guinsoo's Rageblade, Spear of Shojin, and Archangel's Staff are Kog'Maw's three best items. I also managed to find the most appropriate power fruit. Caretaker restores the health of the teammate with the lowest health when the champion uses their ability.

My opponent was playing a duelist and had a 3-star Udyr. His items were also very well chosen, making him extremely tanky, but unfortunately, he lacked damage, and I managed to slowly kill him. It's crucial to balance damage and tankiness correctly.

Damn! My Kog'Maw dealt exactly 24k damage, and I managed to defeat the monkey playing the same composition as me. I defeated a 3-star Kog'Maw! Is it because a 2-star Kog'Maw is better than a 3-star? No, it's because I had better items, better tanks, and better power fruits.

I eliminated this opponent who was playing Star Guardian. Unfortunately, his mistake was using the worst carry in the meta. Yes, Seraphine is not reliable at all. It takes months to use her ability, and by the time you can't kill anyone with it, your team is already gone. She can only be used as a side carry in the Prodigy composition.

TFT may not be the best tactical game, but it's a game that requires you to use your brain. My opponent placed Kog'Maw on the other side of the board, feeding him to my hose-triggering augment. My Kog'Maw kept using his ability, and he died without even being able to move, taking perhaps the maximum damage he could have taken in a single turn.

Another first place! I didn't try to reach Master level with this set in TFT, but I could have easily done so if I wanted to. Just playing during the first days of the patch, while people were trying to figure out which compositions were strong, was enough for me. But I don't like fighting monkeys, so now I just try to play fun games in TFT. It's no fun when everyone in a lobby tries to play the same composition.

I really like the variant with heavyweights. It has a lower usage rate and deals more damage if Darius or Jayce have AD items.
