But in Porto Ceresio, it's still Christmas!!
Hello friends, have you missed me? A few days ago was a truly special day, one of those that make life unique. I woke up early in the morning in Milan, full of enthusiasm for the trip I had planned to the picturesque town of Porto Ceresio in the province of Varese. The decision to take the train was quick and efficient, and with just 7.30 euros, I got a ticket that took me there without any issues. Sometimes, traveling by train is the best and quickest way to reach this place, especially because there's too much traffic near Milan.
Leaving Milan by train is always a fascinating experience; I'm in love with its station. The lively atmosphere of the station, the hustle and bustle of people coming and going, the noise of trains arriving and departing – I love it all. Everything contributes to creating a fascinating picture, a living portrait of a city in constant motion.
Upon arriving at Porto Ceresio, I immediately noticed the welcoming atmosphere of the place. The cobbled streets and picturesque colored houses create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The most surprising thing was to discover that the town still has Christmas decorations, even though Christmas has long passed. This festive touch made the whole experience even more magical, especially since these decorations are right on the lake.
I had been here a few years ago around the same time, and there was snow, which made the lake panorama even more beautiful. But unfortunately, no snow this year; the landscape around is all dry.
The main reason for my visit was the desire to immerse myself in the beauty of Lake Lugano. Porto Ceresio offers a breathtaking view of this splendid body of water, and I took the opportunity to share some unforgettable photos – we're practically on the border with Switzerland. The calm waters and reflections of the surrounding landscape create an atmosphere of serenity that is hard to find elsewhere, and fortunately, I also had a beautiful day.
During my stroll along the lake shores, I had the opportunity to savor the local cuisine, but hungry as I was, I forgot to take some photos. The restaurants offer delicious dishes that combine authentic flavors with the freshness of local ingredients, many of which are fish-based. A light lunch in a cozy restaurant with a view of the lake can be the icing on the cake if you come here. I spent time chatting with the locals, listening to their stories, and learning more about the history and culture of this fascinating town; I would really like to live here.
The return to Milan was equally pleasant, reflecting on the beauties of Porto Ceresio and the fortune of living so close to such enchanting places. I will definitely come back to bring my father, who loves natural landscapes. Today was one of those days that will remain etched in my memory; thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed the photos I shared, and see you at the next post!
