It Happened To Me.
Life is very much unpredictable, it's very obvious that we are living on a "one day at a time" phrase. But do you realize that our spirit man talks and directs us? The only different is that it might not stand physically by your side to either command you or push you around on any issue or challenges. He allows you make your choices on every issue.
If only we do always obey that still small voice speaker, we won't fall into dangerous situations or be in troubled waters at all throughout our life time because it's always speaking to us, most times we ignore the voice, some other times, we pretend it never spoke at all to us. And we seem to continue on our own ways. Anyhow, any day, our inter minds do speak but a still small voice.
It happened to me, some many years back, living in Abuja then, not this very city we live in now. That mid morning hour, i decided to see my friend living in Kubua from Gwarinpa estate. I came up and crossed over on the express fly over through the pedestrian walk way at the 2nd avenue gate. Standing there waiting for a taxi, cab, "ina-aga" stuff as we call it.
When one of the cabs dropped to pick me, many people, some men and a woman altogether were already seated in the cab, i then joined them. We were moving towards my destination when suddenly, the driver started making unruly statements to the woman seating at the back. She sat in between myself and another man.
The drivere said, "madam i will just drop you now in this police station nearby, for you to make some statements and explain to them how you got into so much dollars in the carton at the boot of the car, since you said you dont have naira to pay for your fare. Naira is the name of our local money.
" the woman started talking, "please everybody in this taxi should join her to plead with the driver, that she doesn't have naira, only dollars because she ran away from her Northern Alhaji husband who is very wealthy, married her but was maltreating her, terribly, he traveled, left his room open she now got into his room and had access to one carton which she opened and it was dollars all through, that's how she ran away, traveled with a lorry carrying tomatoes to the Eastern States of Nigeria.
She said that she's from Calabar, cross river state in the eatern states of Nigeria. I was full of pity on her, and started preaching the word of God to her because she really behaved like a maltreated individual. She said, "she doesn't even know the way to her village again or if her mother will forgive her if she's still alive"
For more than 20 years, she had never seen or heard from her family members, especially her mother, we should beg the driver to accept dollar or forfeit her fare. I really, really pitted for her and her story, i began to beg the driver every other person there started talking, some asked the driver to drive us to money changers shop so she can change the money and give all of us some shares.
The driver agreed to that effect and reversed the taxi going towards where i do not know, i asked him to drop me but he refused and drove us to another location into the bush near karimu market as he packed the taxi in the bush, one old dirty rugged man came out from one hut, and started saying that all of us should contribute money to buy the chemical they can use to wash some of the dollars not developed, i told them minus me, i do not have any money, they said I should use my ATM... Automated Teller Machine to withdraw my own contribution, i told them, i do not have any money there either. They became very furious on me, guessing at me wickedly, i was praying in my heart against them and their evils.
They became more angry at me and i started moving out gradually knowing that there's a serious trouble, God helped me, as i was also praying too, at a time the men started moving out one by one the old man started speaking another language i couldn't understand, all of them entered the taxi again and moved leaving me all alone.
I started running out of that environment, but God so kind i was seeing part of the major road of the karimu market which i have known very well, i then was both running and walking till i got to the major road and started going back home, i never got to where i planned going initially. I trecked back home from there because really, i didn't have any other money on me having paid the driver before they began that drama, i was actually going to ask my friend for a financial help, one of the reasons i was going to see her, not knowing i would end up in the hands of evil drivers and his cohorts, but God saved my life.
I remember very well that a time came on that movement that i became restless and monitoring the whole scenario but the driver refused to drop me along the way. He kept on moving till we landed in that bush area, thank God they didn't apply any fetish things on me, my eyes were clear, i found my way still!!
It happened to me many years ago in Abuja, God saved me from them, that was how i knew all of them were together, i was the ood man out including the woman i was piting and counseling on how to plead with her mother when she gets home in Calabar, but i never knew she was one of them till later, later in that ugly episode.
Thanking you for your time to engage on my post. I appreciate you all, let's keep moving forward!
