That's where many companies are willing to drive us, if it can maximize their profit. I've heard of the same mechanism having already been patented for cars... If you forget to pay a fine - or, why not, if you criticize the government - your car will be "recalled" by remote control. That's also one of the reasons why I can't picture myself opening my house to "robotic companions", I would always wonder if they came with a backdoor in their hardware or software.
