Starting the New Year with Music, Family, and Friends
The New Year’s celebration is always a time of joy, reflection, and renewed hope. For me, this year began with a beautiful blend of worship, family bonding, and moments of laughter with friends. It was a day filled with gratitude, good food, and great company, setting the perfect tone for the year ahead.
As the clock ticked closer to midnight, I went to church to attend the crossover service. The atmosphere was electrifying, filled with the sound of vibrant music, heartfelt prayers, and the collective voices of the congregation singing praises to God. As the countdown to midnight began, the church erupted in cheers and joyous shouts of “Happy New Year!” It was a moment of collective hope, as we declared the year a season of breakthroughs and divine favor. The worship and music didn’t stop after midnight; they only grew more powerful, filling the early hours of the new year with an energy that left me feeling refreshed and motivated.
The morning after the crossover service was equally special, as it brought my family together for one of our cherished traditions, preparing a festive meal. My siblings and I gathered outside to help with the task of killing and cleaning the chicken, an aspect of new year activity that has always been part of our New Year’s celebration. The highlight of the meal preparation was making pounded yam. The aroma of the freshly cooked chicken stew wafting through the air made my mouths salivate in anticipation. But I was already late for new service, so I had to eat a little and run out in order to meet up with church.

After the hearty meal, I joined my friends and family once again to attend the New Year service at church. This time, it was a celebration of thanksgiving, a chance to show our gratitude for making it into another year. The congregation danced and sang with unreserved joy, the energy in the room infectious. While I was playing the keyboard, I couldn’t help but reflect on how starting the year in God’s presence set a positive and hopeful tone for the days to come. After service we explored the city a bit and the old street we use to stay during our childhood days.
Later in the evening, I will meet up with a group of close friends to unwind and celebrate the new year together. We will be visiting a cool hangout spot where we will be sharing stories, laughed over old memories, and make plans for the new year. Starting the new year with music, worship, family, and friends was nothing short of perfect. Each moment, from the powerful songs during the crossover service to the bonding over a shared meal and the laughter with friends, reminded me of the blessings in my life.
This is a clew of how my new year started.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
