I don't need to explain how the game works, of course it's similar to many TCGs, although Splinterlands is more focused on being idle. In it, players build strategic decks to battle against other competitors, using creatures, spells, and special abilities represented on the cards. Each victory brings rewards, such as new cards and $SPS tokens, which can be used to strengthen your deck or traded in the game's marketplace.

One of the great innovations of Splinterlands is the use of blockchain technology at no cost in this case, Hive, which ensures the unique and authentic ownership of collectible cards.

This means you have full control over your cards and can buy, sell, or trade them freely, without intermediaries.

Or the infamous "we're shutting down, lose everything."

Splinterlands as a Medium/Long-Term Investment

I would forget about the $DEC token at this moment (I only use it for rentals; I don’t remember the last time I withdrew it from my wallet), and focus on the governance token, Splintershards ($SPS).

Players can earn Splintershards by winning battles, participating in Guild Brawls, and joining tournaments.

Furthermore, the NFT market not just in Splinterlands but in #Play2Earn games in general has grown exponentially in recent years, and Splinterlands benefits from this movement. The game’s cards are NFTs, which means they have intrinsic value and can be traded on the secondary market. As blockchain-based games become more popular, the demand for rare and powerful cards tends to increase, potentially appreciating these digital assets over time.

Although right now, this is not the game’s reality. We might see some price increases with the minimum rental cost going up.
