Water Thoughts & Such

Aha, it's the new week! Drizzles now and then, alternating with the sunshine throughout the day, which is okay with me. It's better than an incessant downpour.

On second thought, we do need the rain, especially for those without any water source. The rainwater can be collected and used for cleaning and such. Some utilize it to cook, take a bath, or wash, like the worker down the road who came around late afternoon, asking to borrow the running water.

Unfortunately, the boys are using it on the sprinklers in the field, and they are not yet back from the other town. The man couldn't do anything but scratch his head when I apologized, saying I didn't know how to send it down, but I'll ask Mr. B when he comes tonight. He can wait for it, then fill his drum. He thanked me and left. It was too late for me to remember that one of the drums outside had water in it, and he could use it. Dang!

But yes, it's tough when there is no running water in one's home. It reminded me of a time when I was at my sister's bath and the water from their tanks ran out. The good thing is that they had notified the service provider earlier that day, and what good timing, the delivery truck came to refill the tanks, solving my dilemma. Geez, what would one do without water!

It's often a problem, especially in the dry season when this most precious resource usually becomes scarce, as the water level in rivers or creeks drops, and some even dry up. During such times, conflicts happen. Some people would fight over a spot in the riverside for their water pumps (to irrigate their crops).

There was a case early this year at my in-laws' place, where a man tried to build a concrete tank in the river to divert the little water to it. The community didn't approve of it because they would have no access to it.

Hearing about it and some more made me wonder what the future would be like if the water supply were to become so scarce. I had to shush my mind because I didn't want to imagine further. But people are resourceful and ingenious, so they will surely come up with solutions, yeah?

Truly, the water problem is very serious. It’s something to think about, as it could become an even bigger challenge for our future.

I miss the time when our school was not paying the water bill. When PW dug near our school, since then we could no longer get water, and so we were forced to connect to PW and started paying the monthly water bills.

I can't imagine living without water pipe in a house, we have had this since like ww2 I guess here... The only thing that some people might not have is the gas to cook, so there are gas tanks

Your personal experience shows how much effort it takes to manage even basic needs when water is limited. Rainwater truly feels like a blessing in times like these.

While some other people may be complaining about the rainy season, it’s usually helpful for those who don’t have any water source
Water is life. There is absolutely nothing that can be done without water
