Tuesday's Discovery: DAX

I just realized my mind is a day behind, lol! My eye caught the date on the system tray, and it's the 9th, while I've been thinking it was still the 8th, lol!
Anyway, Happy Tuesday world!
Browsing aimlessly on YT, checking out for sounds, I came across a Canadian Hip Hop/rap artist who (I felt) sings with his heart and soul. And so I spent most of the morning playing his songs. I thought they were so good, hence, I picked some for the Three Tune Tuesday (TTT) initiative by Ablaze.
This is the first tune that introduced me to the artist.
Dax - Dear God
I mentioned it before that I'm not really into rap, but from time to time, we find something that wows us, and Dax did just that. His lyrics are strong and provocative, confronting real-life questions that are quite relatable. According to the artist, he wrote it as a poem, and years later, it turned into a song.
The second song below gave me goosebumps. Like the first tune above, the lyrics are strong yet relatable. It's like a conversation where the artist asks multiple straightforward questions, like "what-ifs" and "whys."
Dax - Book of Revelations
Some heavy bars on religion, God, the church, and doubts. They made me ponder for a wee while, and found myself echoing, "Why indeed?"
Anyway, to end this edition, here's a country-inspired song as our third tune for the week. Another poem written by the artist during the pandemic. It was eventually released as a song in March 2022.
Dax - Dear Alcohol
Accordingly, this song is based on the singer's personal experiences. The lyrics are quite confrontational and intense, reflecting on the internal battles of alcoholism and self-worth. The artist admitted he began drinking after performing at events, as he felt more social and confident.
The song peaked at #28 on the US Hot Country Songs and spent 23 weeks on the chart. It also reached #9 on the US Bubbling Under Hot 100 Billboard chart.
And oops! Let me add a bonus track. This song is part of his new album, From A Man's Perspective.
Dax - You're the Problem
Well, the lyrics say it all, so there's no need to elaborate, lol! But yes, the artist is quite unapologetic in his storytelling through the lyrics.
I do like the strong bassline and the hip-hop beats. I was a bit amused watching the music video. It goes so well with the theme of the song.
Okay, that's it for today. If you wish to check more of the artist's music, here's the link to his YT channel.

These songs carry so much depth. Definitely appreciate you highlighting them. 'You're the Problem' sounds interesting, can’t wait to see that music video, haha!
They do, that's probably what got me interested in them. Have fun when you watch it :)
Beautiful songs, yes things of God can make one ponder and lots of reflection. Going on stage with the use of alcohol and drugs must one day backfire so the earlier they stop it the better
You're right. Let's hope people who are into these substances will realize they are harming themselves and stop it.
!LADY
The earlier the better for them
Ah that is not my genre 😅 he's good and the videos are good too but definitely not my genre
Haha, it's okay. Not everything is our cup of tea :)

I really like Dax too, his songs hit deep and make you think about real life struggles. "Dear God" and "Dear Alcohol" especially have powerful messages. It’s nice to see rap music being used in such a meaningful way.
