Touching Grass

(Edited)

With the heavy rain washing away the summer dust yesterday afternoon, the earth smells fresher, and the plants greener. So Yongi and I took advantage of it earlier today and camped outside after the hubby cut the grass.

The Lil Guy was so pleased, of course. The scent of the grass was nice to the nostrils, he couldn't stop sniffing here and there.

As usual, he felt so comfortable, slumped on the grassy ground, and gave me this look while I was snapping some photos of him.

We had a large umbrella to shade us from the scorching heat because I didn't want more sunburns. The LilGuy enjoyed his moments under it.

While there, a sudden thought came to mind. We should grow a tree so that in the years to come, one can enjoy its shade and wouldn't need an umbrella (unless it's raining). I was also reminded of what I read not so long ago, which said planting a tree is one of the best legacies we can leave behind us. And I think it is true. So maybe we can have a few cypress or some fruit-bearing trees.

Anyways, we had a lovely, laid-back time, letting time pass us by, savoring the goodness of nature. My companion was sweet as always. Perhaps he wanted a cuddle, so he placed his face (head) between my feet.

One might think he is laughing in this pic, but he is just yawning. The hot weather makes him sleepy, he yawns a lot, lol!

"My eyes are heavy!" he seems to be saying in this pic, lol!

Yet he stayed awake, observing, sensing, listening, and most importantly, keeping me company. We were mostly quiet, grateful for the time bestowed upon us by the Heavens to appreciate the gifts of the earth that we sometimes take for granted.

We should have more such simple, pleasurable moments. They are good not only for the body, but also for the soul. And we don't even have to go far or spend a penny. (A note to self)

Planting trees is an act on which there is great emphasis in Islamic teachings. According to the faith Planting a tree in this world is rewarded with a tree in the heaven. There is a saying from the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that says even if you are so sure of the world coming to an end tomorrow and you have a seed in your hand, plant it.

Plants are life. What the world would be without plants

Your companion seems to be aware of the photo shoot the way he is making poses.

Love this. It made me want to plant more trees and how nice it is to have plenty in heaven! And I must admit that I could not imagine a world without plants.

Seriously, how rewarding it would be in the heaven to own a garden full of trees. God multiplies our efforts with His blessings. So we never know how many we may get as a reward of each tree we plant.

A world without plants is never a possibility

I love how you and your Lil Guy enjoyed the fresh scent of grass and nature's calm after the rain. The idea of planting a tree for future shade is so beautiful and thoughtful. These quiet, simple moments really do feed the soul. Thanks for sharing such lovely photos and reflections.

Thank you :) It was a nice time spent out in the open under the umbrella and hope to have another in the next few days.

I agree, planting a tree has a huge symbolic value, if you have space to plant one... The thing is, when it grows you need to do cuts and such, you can't let it do what it wants, if you have neighbor they won't be really happy... The city here gave a tree to every newborn, I've got it

We have plenty of space in the property. We do have to consider future improvements or developments before planting some.

I also really like the smell of soil after rain, and in the summer, especially after rain, the weather becomes much more pleasant. Both humans and animals enjoy it.

I can clearly see that how satisfied Lil Guy was. I feel anyone love to enjoy a walk on a green grass.
I hope that in the next year there will be a tree to give shadow and it will be more comfortable as the shadow of tree must be cooler than an Umbrella.

He loves the outdoors. A tree takes time to grow, so maybe, in 5 or more years :) But yes, it would be really nice to have one or a few out there.
