The Weeknd for TTT
Ayayay! Tuesday already, whew! It's great of course, because it means time to sing along and perhaps dance too! I'd love to do both but I'm not at singing and my aching feet reminded me they are both left so... 😁
Anyway, the first pop-driven song below by The Weeknd got me wondering why I only encountered him today. I won't say much but I invite you to listen to it (watch the music video) and let us know what you think :)
The Weeknd - Save Your Tears
You danced, did you? The beat is very danceable so don't lie, lol! Well, if you must know, my body reacted to it the moment I heard the intro.😅
But before anything else, here's a quick intro about The Weeknd which I first thought to be a band with a few members but nope!
Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, professionally known as The Weeknd, is a Canadian singer-songwriter. He is popular for his unconventional music production, artistic reinventions, and signature use of the falsetto register.¹
He transitioned from R&B to pop around 2014 and the song above was part of his After Hours album released in 2021. It peaked at number 4 on the US Billboard. Accordingly, it is the best-selling global single of 2021, with 2.15 billion subscription streams. The music video on YT has over 1.536 billion views as of today.
He and Ariana Grande did a remix of the song in 2021. You can check it out here.
The Weeknd - Call Out My Name
This track was released in 2018 and has over 957 million views on YT. Apparently, the song earned the largest first-day Spotify stream count of any song released that year.² I chose this because it shows the singer can do R&B too.
Although this was critiqued as the least interesting track in the album, My Dear Melancholy.
The Weeknd ft. Daft Punk - Starboy
An electro-pop and R&B genre. The track was released in 2016 and is The Weeknd's third chart-topper (and Daft's only chart-topper).³
I didn't check all his songs, but this could be the most viewed music video of Abel (The Weeknd) on YT, with 2.4 billion + views to date.
And there goes my recommendation for the Three Tune Tuesday initiative by Ablaze. Now, I'm left wondering if you like any of them. The first one (Save Your Tears) is my favorite, until I find another, lol!

I heard the three songs but I liked the first one most, especially for its base music. Do you know I wasn't listening to the music when I played in the beginning and later I realized mute the sound from the tab🤣.!LOL
