The Waves Took Him

The world has lost a beautiful soul, a great son, a wonderful brother, a loyal friend, and a good young man. Too soon, just too soon.🥲
Story had it that they were writing on the sand by the shore when the waves came and swept them three. It happened so fast; everyone was shocked. Two were rescued to safety, and when they got to him, his breath was no more. We can only pray that his soul find peace and rest eternally in it.
It was a family holiday that turned out tragically, and one would wish it were just a nightmare. We have not been to the wake yet, but I really hope no one is blaming themselves for what happened.
This reminded me of a time when we were in a celebratory mood after my university graduation and decided to go to a resort for a dip. My brother was so excited that upon arriving, he went straight to the pool, and the next thing we saw was a commotion. He was drowning, in a shallow pool (5 feet). Thank goodness my brother-in-law was quick and got to him in time.

We never went to any swimming pool since that time, until many years later. The accident scarred us badly, so we always make sure no one goes to the water without resting first.
To this day, my father often discourages us whenever we plan to have a beach outing. The memory of that afternoon 25 years ago still haunts him. It does the same to me. It still makes my spine shiver every time I get reminded of it. That's why sometimes, we just watch from afar when we observe that the current is strong. Or would spend time eating and chit-chatting, away from the waves.
It is sad, though, that while water gives life, it also takes lives without warning.

Chaii, this is a great loss. What is supposed to be a family holiday, a family get-together has turned out to be a bad memorable day. So sorry for the loss. It's a pity
Yeah... we can only hope the family can find the courage to accept what happened.
I couldn't finish reading this because 😭😭😭 tears won't allow me, how on earth will the family endure this, ohhhh this isn't a good one at all, just a few days to end 2025, my condolences to the family
It's truly devastating for the family, a really sad way to end the year.

STOPWhenever you’re near the sea, you really have to keep an eye on the waves because there are times when they suddenly get strong. It’s especially dangerous for children since they can easily be swept away by the waves, particularly if they don’t know how to swim.
You're right. One should be alert and stay in a safer spot.
An unfortunate loss... Just a few days ago a colleague told me one of his ex school mates died, similar way, was fishing on rocks and a wave took him to death
I'm not afraid of the sea, I love it, but it demands respect and attention
Oh... that is so sad...
This is very true. We should not stay complacent when we're in it, even when we know how to swim.
That's so devastating! The poor family..what an awful accident.
By far the most drownings here in Australia are migrants - they don't know how to swim or understand the ocean. Aussie kids grow up doing swimming lessons and understanding the dangers of the sea mostly. Learning to swim and self rescue would have meant your brother never would have been in that terrifying situation. I'm sorry you all were so scarred and scared by it that it impacted your family enjoying water.
Indeed, a bad memory for the month that is difficult to forget.
You're right, the lack of proper training contributes to drowning incidents, which can be avoided if we know what to do when such accidents arise. What happened to my brother was truly scary, but it also taught us a lesson to stay vigilant when we are in the water.
This is quite sad...
Condolences b❤️🔥
Yes, heartbreaking...
A fun family outing turned tragic! I hope they get over this pain and don't blame themselves because that's the easiest thing to do at this point.
I feel sorry for the family. It painful to watch your child die that way without you being able to do anything ab😔 😟 🙁 😥
It is. Can't even imagine what they are going through right now, but we pray they will find peace and acceptance in their hearts.🙏
Oh no! The family pain 🥹.
For sure they are grieving and yeah, hoping no self blaming.
Ah, it was really terrifying
Yeah... It's a very unfortunate accident, but hoping the family finds the strength to accept...

Oh no, very unfortunate accident, things can change quickly in the blink of an eye, I pray those that remain find the strength to keep going and the one gone find peace upstairs in heaven.
