The Makahiya

Hola!

Oh la la, it's Friday, and we are currently out of mankind town, spending the day with my dearest folks like we always do each week. For us, it's like a retreat, a time to slow down from everything else we are doing and just be present with our loved ones, either quietly or loudly, depending on the mood of everyone. So, yes, I'm off the grid throughout the day.

Anyhow, in DD, there was a plant growing amongst the gravel that caught my attention the other day. With the sun at its peak (past 1 pm), it allowed almost everything under it to cast shadows, this plant included. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this is what they refer to as makahiya locally.

Because I could not see all its shadows, I thought of placing a white paper under it, and boom! Look at those many little leaves and their shadows!

"If someone is observing what you are doing right now, he would probably be laughing, thinking you have gone insane, lol!" My alter ego suddenly broke the silence, making me pause for some time. "Well, he doesn't know any better, so let him be," I stated straightforwardly.

"Yeah, right. Plus, he didn't know you're earning out of your craziness," the alter ego readily agreed. "Take some more photos so you have plenty to choose from," she suggested further, to which I obliged, knowing my shots are not always sharp.

I thought this came out nicely with just a little editing.

And with that, I end this edition of my shadow-hunting participation. If you are new and wondering what it is about, check this post out for more details and join us and share your hunts too. It's fun! Most importantly, shadows tend to show themselves to you, even when you are not deliberately looking for them😉

Thank you for coming along. Have a FUNtastic day!

thinking you have gone insane

certainly you are crazy, but at least you achieve your goal to get the shadow much better. lol
That is the reason why I am too shy for a street photography, always overthink about other perspective. lol

Looks like albizia, aka silk tree from the leaves, flower is particular ... Good idea to put the paper on the ground

Maybe it is. I'm not sure myself, hehe. I'd love to see it grow bigger and bear flowers, unfortunately, the gravel will be used next week for the driveway.

That's one of the coolest plants I know. I used to poke these as a kid and watch the leaves close lol. Your shadow trick worked really well, the tiny leaves look sharp. Nice shot

Hahhaha
Crazy things for the things that put food on the table. My folks too are full of wonder when they see me taking pictures of every Tom and dick on my way. You never know when they would come in handy.
Nice shots though…

Yay! Glad to know you are guilty of it too, lol! In a way, we get to enjoy life more, even in the simplest of ways as taking photos of things around us😊

Thank you mi !LADY💗
