The Beauty of Hive [In My Perspective]

When you have been here on the blockchain for a while, you may have explored, discovered, experienced, and learned things, or used various applications. But if you are new, let me share some of the wonderful stuff we have here on Hive.

Ecosystem & Communities

The Hive ecosystem has various social frontends or applications, not one but several (INLEO, Peakd, Hive Blog, Ecency, DBuzz, LikeTu, 3Speak, Waivio, Travel Feed and more) where you can access your account, create any form of content (text, videos, photography, etc), meet and interact with others, or perform transactions among other things. We can use any or all of them and no one would be bothered.

If you are not into content creation, there are the gaming, NFTs, DeFi, internal market, and sports apps. I'd say there is something for everyone. The good thing is that most of these applications are free to use, as long as you have a Hive account and Resource Credits.

There are various communities too and there is no limit on how many of them one can join, as long as we understand and abide by the rules. In some circumstances where we disregard them, we may be muted by other moderators, but no one can censor us or our content. We own our account and content and nobody can take them away (unless we lose our keys).

We can be sharing about travel today, food tomorrow, a life event the next, our gaming or trading results or whatever else, and we wouldn't have to worry about where to publish or post them because there's a place for everything.

Single Universal Account

All the apps on Hive's ecosystem can be accessed with a single Hive account. You don't need to create another for every onchain application you wish to explore and use. Your one account can be used to log in and transact across multiple apps.

Well, you have the freedom to create alt accounts if you are so inclined to do so. Just don't pretend to be a different person on each account because that would be a terrible thing to do.

Now, we can even connect our Hive account (plus a DeFi wallet) to trade or swap crypto assets in multiple chains (Hive, Ethereum, ThorChain, Arbitrum, etc) in a decentralized way through LeoDex.

Global Interactions & Network

One of the good things I also appreciate about Hive is that it is accessible in most places or countries. Hence, we get to engage and connect with like-minded people from around the globe. Building connections both locally and internationally is possible here.

We develop warm friendships in the process. For example, the Silver Gold Stackers Community whose members seem to know each other well. It's heartwarming to see how they uplift their fellow collectors. Some even gift others with silver or gold coins.

If you own a business or provide services, growing your connections can be very helpful, especially when you accept HIVE or HBD as one of your payment options. I observed this to be true in Sucre and other parts of Venezuela.

In addition, we (newbies or old members alike) can interact or socialize virtually with big accounts (whales) and builders. At least that's my observation and experience anyway. Are you wondering where to find some of them? Go to Threads.😉

Onchain and Real-Life Initiatives

There are various initiatives run by communities where anyone can participate, and learn in the process. Through such, we develop self-confidence, enhance our skills, and grow interpersonally.

Then there's the water boreholes in Ghana which was funded by the Decentralized Hive Fund (DHF). The projects have impacted (and are empowering) Ghana communities and people's lives, providing them access to clean water.

These and other programs that I might not be aware of are changing people's lives. Not to mention the ability to monetize our content and interactions helps many provide for their family or personal necessities.

Summing Up

These are just some of the good things about Hive from my perspective. And they could be highlighted especially when we introduce the chain to others. There are plenty more, of course, and I may share them (including the bad ones) on another day.

On a personal level, this blockchain allows me to express myself and my thoughts in ways that I could not do as an introvert in real life. This space keeps me growing. It makes me discover things, connect, and meet new friends. That is why I love Hive and consider it my digital home, my social media haven.

there is a lot of things that we can do with hive, but it seems we have never picked up the hype yet again. But hey we are still in a good range in term of price, and we still a lot of things going with the development, and the use of of Hive in real life, I guess we will still be around for years to come. : )

That is very true. I feel we are just starting. Let's hope we will still be here to see and experience more improvements in the next decades 😊

Many thanks, Eliz. The water boreholes in Ghana are one of the various real-life initiatives funded by the Hive DHF.

Another beautiful thing about Hive is how it has so many frontends . You may decide to use one today and another one tomorrow and I’m sure there will be nothing like you having a website or application collapse since there are so many frontends

Yes, very much so. The freedom to use any of the interfaces at any time we like is one of the best things about this chain.

It is interesting to see how market value counters social value.
Hive is a good example of increasing social value with consistently low market value.
And, our social value is increasing because here we own our accounts and there isn't censorship, especially when we publish in our own blogs.

I agree. We grow in many ways here, interpersonally, socially, even financially

I found comfort in hive, whenever I feel alone. I would browse and read until I divert my attention to something else.

With the way you explained what Hive is, I can't help loving it the more. I say it till tomorrow that joining Hive was one of the best decisions I made because through I've connected to amazing people like you, which would not have ever been possible in real sense.

I like what you wrote about the Silver savers community, wish I had any of the gems, would have joined.

You have touched most of the point and it is a good summary post on Hive. We can say it to the person we introduce. But I am 100 % sure that 90% will go above their head 🤣. !LOL

Salamuch, Inti. You're right though, some of the people I share Hive with say "That's wonderful! But it's not my cup of tea" 🤣 !LOL

Really well said! I appreciate the most the global aspect of Hive, connecting with people from different parts of the world, learning from their thoughts and experiences fosters a deeper understanding of what life is from a global level. The one account for many things is also really cool, plus, we own it, it can't be taken away from us, unless we lose the keys.

Many thanks. Indeed. Being able to connect with people across the globe and learn from them feels like we have traveled too. And truth there, as long as we have the keys, we control everything about our accounts.

Hive has good things to share about different from every other platform. The fact that you can post about anything in different communities is amazing. You don't have to get confused on what to write and where to post it.

There are lots of benefits on the ecosystem which I haven't seen elsewhere.

I have just come back from holiday and I saw your tag CJ, salamat for that, I was intrigued with that challenge as it is the good the bad and what to change.
You have summed up pretty well the good things, are there no bad things or things you would change?
Hive is indeed a wonderful place with some wonderful people.

I imagine your holiday went so well, Tito Ed.❤️

Oh, there are bad stuff here too. I was to write about some of them but the challenge already ended, haha!
