Sunday Chismis

"How is it that it's Sunday already? Wasn't it just Thursday the other day?" the hubby asked jokingly early in the morning. He was with the boys most of the week; hence, he was stunned that the days flew by.
We were to attend church and then check things in the Lil Kingdom, but my hormones are all messed up. Add the cold weather, and that equates to a lazy day.
So yes, it was a quiet Sunday for the little guy and me, until a high school batchmate of mine rang me to say hello. We haven't seen each other in years, and we rarely chatted before today, so I was taken aback for a while and wondered what reminded her of me.
And then the questions kept coming from the other end of the line. "Aahh... So this is chismis!" said the voice in my head, which made me let out a soft giggle.
Two old women having a chismis, lol [My own photo]"Weren't you working abroad, blah blah blah?" she inquired further. "Oh no, I have always been around," I replied with a hint of a joke, laughing in amusement, not for what she asked, but because I couldn't believe someone from almost 3 decades ago still remembered me after all the years. It was flattering!
The conversation went more naturally afterwards. Thank goodness there were no more awkward inquiries and such, just two people exchanging laughter over mundane matters.
When we hung up, it dawned on me that she knew much more about my life than I knew about hers. Had I been a subject of chismis amongst my batchmates? Hmmm... my cynical mind was getting activated, so I had to shush it instantly, or it would dig more suspicions, and I wouldn't like that.
Anyway, it's not surprising that I'm not updated about other people's lives, especially those outside my family circle. I don't socialize often, and I don't go out for gossip (chismis). If I'm interested in knowing something about someone, I make an effort to learn directly from them, not from anyone else. Guess I have grown up a lot, haha!
But yes, it was quite nice to reconnect and catch up with an old acquaintance (even if it was just on the phone). And that is my Sunday's little chismis.😅
While reading your post I realized I understood nothing. Hehe. I guess my mind is diverted because I am surrounded by lots of guest.

I've not been hearing from school mates for decades too, everyone took its own way... I would be surprised too to hear someone wanting to call and ask how it goes
