Spadix, Floral Arrangements & Stuff

Mom's wake was held in their house, not in a funeral home. In our tradition, the wake usually takes 4 days and 4 nights. Food, snacks, drinks, tea, coffee, etc are served throughout the day and night. The funeral is on the fifth day. People come and go, so a family member is always present at any given time.

So, except when caring for my personal needs (bathing, eating, etc), I rarely left the hall, even during the wee hours, simply because I could not sleep. While playing the guitar at midnight on the 12th, I noticed the anthurium flowers, and they seemed to be glowing (my eyes sometimes trick me), so I took two photos of them.

And while browsing my gallery earlier today, I realized the yellow-orangy Spadix cast a faint but nice, elongated shadow on the white Spathe. And I thought they could be a nice set to share for SMASh 370 edition.

Ironically, while I love taking pictures on ordinary days, I rarely took out my phone at Mom's wake. Well, except on that particular night when I photographed these.

The floral arrangement on the sides of her wooden casket. There were boat orchids (cymbidiums), daisies, white roses, mums, and lilies, but because other people were around, I only discreetly took snapshots of these. I do like the wee shadows of the flowers on the floor.

And I could not help but include the ottoman's shadows, which were taken just after the interment. Not the best shots, but they do carry some memories. There's the tiny shadow of the cajon in the corner too.

And the shadows cast by the cabbage leaves (or is it a head?). Photographed this on my [morning stroll(https://ecency.com/morningwalk/@ifarmgirl/lil-wonders-on-a-mid) on the 9th. I wasn't intentionally focusing on the shadows, but they got caught, lol!

Well, I guess that is all for now. These are from last week. While I would love to add more from the other days, it feels like I'm dumping photos, so maybe next time😊

Happy hunting, frens and have a lovely Easter!

These are not the regular hunt, they are spectacular and look catchy, I have to look more closer to see the shadow

Totally different here, there are no days with food and such, expecially as no one feels like eating in that moments... Every culture is so different

Indeed. Even our neighboring towns have different ways of doing things. Our culture is probably the most extravagant. No expense is spared here, so wakes to funerals usually cost more than a wedding.

Here they are super expensive too, not the wakes but everything around... At very least 5000€ like the minimum

The costs of everything are rising. Good insurance and such are a big help.

Unintentional or not, those shadows are still clear and the anthurium is pretty♥️. Uo sis, talagang magastos ang lamay. Lalo NASA SA araw Ng libing. Mapapagastos Ka talaga😐

It’s a good thing the wake went well and it’s just normal to want to steal a few shorts based on the fact that you love photography. They came out nice.

It did, thankfully, and we are grateful to the people who helped us in many ways.

Salamuch :)
