[Some] Life Out the Yard & A Treat

Magandang buhay!
It's a gorgeous Monday in DD - blue skies, plenty of sunshine, a little breeze, and except for the faint sound of tractors in the distance, it is generally quiet around here.
Wanting to get my dose of vitamin D at 9 in the morning, I spent some minutes with my plants, the beans specifically. Yesterday, one of the boys hung his jacket over the plant, and I had to remove it quickly or the flowers would wilt.
"Common B, there was a clothesline nearby. Do not mistreat my plants!" I pleaded, and everyone just laughed.
But yeah, I was super delighted to see they are fruiting, flowering, and thriving! Second to French beans (which unfortunately didn't germinate), this climbing plant is also our household's favorite. We like them sautéed, stir-fried, or roasted.

That is why we always make sure to leave some pods to mature so we can have seeds to plant again. We have a few now, one has already been stung by insects, but I think they will still make it. My father-in-law asked us on his last visit to keep some seeds for him to grow in his little garden. He likes them too, so yeah, we are keeping those in the lower stems (or branches) for him.

Some insects (maybe worms) started to ravage the leaves of the smaller ones beside the giant post. These reminded me that it's time to clear the weeds and grass around them. I am so guilty of postponing that work for days. Still not going to do any weeding today though.

Meanwhile, one of the pumpkins has grown buds, which I imagine would open up soon to some cheerful yellow flowers. They have shown one or two in the past weeks, as if the plants were teasing us, but no fruit yet. This is our first time growing them, so we are quite excited.
Well, we have enough patience and we are letting them take their time, and perhaps one day, they will eventually surprise us.

Somewhere in the yard (beside the greenhouse, which the husband uses as a storage for crates upon crates of potato seedlings and others), there are more small newly-germinated plants - a tomato showing positive growth on an upcycled powder detergent bag. I hope this survives, as we haven't had luck growing them successfully here.
The rosemary cuttings on some cans of Spam are not looking bad either. They are now greenish, which means they have already grown roots. We discovered they are a great repellent for mosquitoes, so we are growing more of them (they won't be for kitchen use). And oh, two beans are out too!

Well, after that wee yard visit, it was time to enjoy a cool treat, perfect for a hot midmorning. We simply could not resist it. It is such an extra creamy Nestle temptation indeed! Yum! Yum!😅

What a good start for the new week, huh? We are grateful, of course! We do love the little things in life. Cheers!

It's a very good way to start your week, good morning from this end, am sure it's the weed that attracted those insects because the plants are actually doing well, very soon I will check my plants too tho dey were not doing so well the last time I checked.
Have a wonderful Monday.
Hello, my dear. Hope things are going well with you, and you had the chance to check your plants. It's nice to have some around :) Cheers, !LADY💖
I just checked them this morning, and I was happy with what I saw, I will write about it soon, how's your week going?
I think it's the snails eating your leaves, they do thar during the night
My grandparents used to drop around poison in the ground specific for snails or you would be overwhelmed
That might be the case. I didn't check them last night and still have not done anything today. Snails or slugs are quite common here, especially when it rains.
Here too, snails are a nightmare for every farmer, expecially those ones not carrying the house
Good morning, I think it was a good idea for removing the jacket from the plants, it wouldn't have make sense if it wilt. The photo from the garden are stunning, very beautiful plants. Have a wonderful day ahead.
The jacket would have ruined the flowers if it had stayed, covering them for the whole day. Thank you and have a fab day too.
You are welcome.
Thank you as well.

Yep, just like that😂
Good day wow it's nice your little garden and the snack is yummy
Thank you !LADY💖
The pest is Bekicot (a type of slug) that eat plants. I usually put wood ash around the plants to prevent snails from eating the plants.
Oh, I didn't know that. Thank you for sharing your preventive measures. I'll try to do that too.
The worms are making a tremendous feast with those leaves haha I hope you can fix it soon, they still look nice 😊
They are nasty, lol! Thank you. I learned something from Tomidiwirja. Will try to apply it soon!
Excited din Yung MgA insects sis. Gusto pa kayong unahan SA Pg harvest😬
Madalas nga sis, nauuna silang naghaharvest, haha.
Hello @ifarmgirl Magandang buhay! it's so nice to see your plants thriving, flowering, and fruiting. I love gardening too, and I'm happy to have a peek at others' gardens here. It's like I am given a virtual tour somewhere.
What do you call the first plant? It looks very much similar to French beans, which we locally call baguio beans here. They are even similar to string beans, only that the fruits are shorter. To add to the recipe- sautéed, stir-fried, or roasted, you may try making spring rolls out of them. It's delicious and healthy! We did this many times, whether for string beans or baguio beans.
Happy farming! 💚
Hello, Shiela, Happy Tuesday :)
Thank you for the virtual visit, hehe. It was nice to see them growing despite the chaos in the yard. They are Baguio beans. Sadly, the French beans didn't germinate when we sowed them the second time, and we ran out of seeds. Spring rolls are a treat indeed, but I never attempted to make some :)

There may be some flying pests that perch on your plants
They do that mostly at night
Yes, there are ants too.
