Skusa Clee Got My Ears Today

I must be under the weather (gloomy since morning, and it kept drizzling) or perhaps I was tired from yesterday's activity, so this day turned into another lazy day. That also meant doing random stuff - snoozing, munching on things, watching videos, and playing music. It's Tuesday after all, which means discovering new tunes for the TTT initiative by Ablaze.
And Skusta Clee (Daryl Jake Borja Ruiz), a Filipino rapper, singer-songwriter, and actor, got my ears, thanks to the first song below that passed through my feed. The cool intro made me stick a bit and listen. It turned out to be quite good! I like this hip-hop style and beats, adding some R&B elements. And oh, those melodic guitar riffs didn't escape my eardrums either.
It's quite popular too. It has over 100 million views on YouTube since its upload seven months ago.
Skusta Clee - Kalimutan Ka
The second tune below is quite catchy, featuring a hip-hop rhythm, guitar riffs, and electronic elements. It was the seventh digital single by the artist. I do like his emotive and laid-back delivery.
I seldom listen to Tagalog music, but this made me check further and play most of his songs today. Also checked his bio, and per Wiki:
Ruiz is perhaps the most prominent hip-hop artist in the Philippines from the late 2010s to the early 2020s. He has amassed billions of combined streams on all digital platforms, such as Spotify and YouTube. He is the pioneer of the Pinoy trap genre, as he started the mainstream trap movement in the country. His tracks dominated Musical.ly in 2016, and which he joined the collective Ex Battalion in the same year.
Whoa! He had been in the industry that long, but I'm only discovering him now. It's not too late, for sure.
Skusta Clee ft. Yori Dope - Dance With You
Anyway, here's the third track for the day. A full rap, the lyrics are quite confrontational and aggressive, but at least not too vulgar or hurtful to my eardrums, lol! I don't usually listen to this type of lyrics, but I gave it a chance today for a change.
Skusa Clee - Testing
I liked how 'real' his tone was as he rapped about his detractors, mocking them, and demanding respect. It was quite fun to listen to it, even just for once or twice.
And there ends my TTT participation for the week. Cheers!

Thank you lots :)
I've heard the first song somewhere. Sya pala kumanta nun. In fairness, despite sa mga issues nya as a person, he's a good musician.
I didn't read kung anong mga controversies about him, but yes, he's good at his art
Skusta is a great singer and composer. I also listens to his music sometines.
Just maybe, not in other asper of life, lol.
Though we don't really know the stories behind.
He sure is.
Uo sis, dami nyang controversy😁
Hope hindi lumaki ulo nya dahil sa fame :)
Parang negative na controversy sis. Kaya pinapaganda nga nya image nya😂
Interesting how the 3 musics have a different style, like the first is not really rap as last one
Yes, it seems each of his songs has its own uniqueness.
That intro on Kalimutan Ka hooked me fast, and the smooth guitar bits made it stick even more. Wild that it crossed 100M views in just seven months, defintely earned by that mix of hip hop and R and B. Earworms hit different when the sky is grey. Dance With You felt easy on the ears too, thsi is the kind of vibe that fits a rainy lazy day. Testing was a fun one time blast, with that raw tone giving it some bite without going overboard, taht balance worked.
Yes. Intros like that make us stay :) He's got loyal fans. His views are quite massive.
I felt so too.
I enjoy listening to his songs, too, although I consider his songs as part of my guilty pleasure songs 😂 I featured two of them in my TTT before 😁
Oh, that's nice. Guilty pleasure songs, that's a nice way to put it 😍
Nice discovery! Skusta Clee really has a unique style, and his songs are super catchy. Glad you found some new music to enjoy even while not feeling well.
Yes, it was a surprising find :) Thank you and happy hump day to you

Well, lazy rainy days are perfect for discovering new music. I have never explored much Tagalog hip-hop, but now I feel like I should. Thanks for sharing your finds. 😁
Thanks to rainy days then😀 All the best! Hope you find something you like best😉
All of those were good but I felt the first two were better than the third one or you can say I liked first two.
Thanks for sharing and let me hear good music.
