Shaboozey's Bar Hits

Hello, Tuesday!

Already?

Yep. It felt like we slept on a Sunday and woke up on a Tuesday, lol! But yes, it's a beautiful morning here in DD and the sky is clearing so we might be able to say hi to Mr. Sunshine.

Yesterday was one of the most productive days in the house - DIYs and stuff. We even enjoyed loads of music and discovered a new artist whom we are highlighting in today's post for the TTT initiative by Ablaze.

So here comes Shaboozey!

What an interestingly unique stage name! Accordingly, it was born from the mispronunciation of his last name (Chibueze) which means 'God is King' in Igbo. Collins Chibueze in real life is a multi-talented rapper, singer-songwriter, filmmaker, and record producer whose music styles combine hip-hop, alternative country, rock, and Americana.

He recently collaborated with Beyoncé on her studio album, Cowboy Carter. He also released his country single which topped (#1) the Billboard Hot 100 charts in several countries and has become the longest-running number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024. It made Shaboozey the very first male black artist to chart at number one on Billboard's Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts at the same time.(src)

Okay, let's go!

Shaboozey - A Bar Song (Tipsy)

The song was released in April this year as the fourth single on his album Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going. While he has released 3 studio albums since 2017, this is his most commercially successful track so far.

Shaboozey - Tall Boy

Released in 2021 as one of the singles in his studio album Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die. Shaboozey gave a modern cowboy vibe by combining hip-hop and country. The beat and rhythm bridge the gap between urban rap and rural country-western.

Accordingly, the song and video speak to working Americans who endure life challenges and could use some booze at the end of the day.

Shaboozey - Drink Don't Need No Mix

Another blend of rap and country where Shaboozey collaborated with another American rapper, BigXthePlug. It's the 10th single on his album Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going, which debuted at #5 on the US Billboard 200.

I found an interesting read regarding the song I quote:

"Beyond the surface-level celebration of partying, 'Drink Don't Need No Mix' explores the deeper motivations behind these nights out. It reflects a desire to escape the pressures of daily life and find freedom in the moment. The neon lights and rowdy behavior symbolize a temporary release from reality, while the camaraderie between friends highlights the importance of shared, carefree experiences. the song reflects a desire to escape the pressures of daily life and find freedom in the moment. Shaboozey seems to have found a way to successfully fuse hip-hop and country genres without making them overlap. It had been nice listening to his songs and sharing some of them here.

Thank you and have a fun day, frens!

All the 3 songs were good and I heard those for the first time. But the base of 3 music caught my attention most. In fact, I think the base of those musics were very classic.

What a great music! I feel a bit of Folk in your vibe, or maybe as you say to be more precise a Western sound! I find the "Tallboy" chorus magnificent, wow! I'm really amazed by the sound of this discovered artist.

Thanks for sharing!
