Red Market, Discord Scam & Such [Week 41]
Woke up to a bloody market, with HIVE at 13 cents. I thought my eyes were playing me, so I closed the app and reopened it again, and yikes, it was real. Binance even recorded a 24-H low of 3 cents. Whoa! Lucky are those who were able to snag some at such a price. It might be a glitch, or maybe a trader panicked and sold some. Don't know really.
I quickly bought some from the exchange and sent it here, with the intention of getting a bit more SURGE, but darn! Hive-Engine was so glitchy that my swap got stuck, and I'm still waiting for it.
Reported the issue on Discord, and a scammer tried to trick me by asking me to create a support ticket. It was not a DM; it was a reply to my report on the #beeswap-support channel, so I was unsuspecting (my first time at the dCity Discord server), so I clicked on it, and a ticket was created. I didn't even read the intro and just sent my concern, including the transaction hash.
Then he replied, asking a weird question, which raised an alarm. I suddenly noticed the name "SUPPORT TICKET-pumping." That further confirmed it wasn't legit.
I only managed to screenshot this, but I replied asking what he meant by custodian. When he mentioned Ledger, TrustWallet, etc, my alarm sounded louder, and I typed "Oh geez, this is a scam!" and immediately, the ticket chat disappeared in an instant, lol!
Crazy how bad actors do things just to cheat others. Let's be careful out there.
Well, as a precaution (although I didn't share anything), I thought of changing my account keys. But for some reason, it isn't allowing me and is giving me an error. I'm not sure what was wrong. I certainly entered the correct Owner Key. Tried a couple of times, but it's still the same.
Anyway, it's Saturday and it's goaling time as usual. Week 41 is concluding, and here's how it went so far for me:
Sats
- Current Balance: 216,400 sats

I didn't catch the chance when Bitcoin dropped to $102k. I was still snoring when it happened (5:20 am), so yeah, no buying occurred. Hence, my Sats balance remained unchanged. Will see if we can add some soon.
HBD Savings:
- Current Balance: 2,200 HBD
- Previous Week: 2,185 HBD
15 HBD was added during the week. 300 HBD remains on my target for the year. I would need to save at least 27 HBD a week to cross off the goal. It's not looking achievable, but will just keep on anyway.
Staked HIVE
- Current Amount: 28,888 HP
- Previous Week: 28,743 HP
145 HP in the week. While this was not part of my SSC goal, I'm including it on my weekly monitoring for personal record. I think my ultimate goal of having 30k HP by year-end is possible, unless HIVE pumps to 50 cents or so. Will just continue to do what we do each day and see how it goes.

Happy for you, you didn't get scammed and I've learned one way to avoid these scammers too. My goodness, I saw it at 14 and also closed my Hive keychain, I honestly did think it was some glitch. I almost wanted to clear storage history until I saw some others talking so it. It's unfortunate it had to go that low. I Believe it had something to do with Trump proposing the 100 percent tariff o China. Might have been why the was maybe a panic sell. Yesterday, about 19 billion dollars in crypto market was liquidated, a lot of coins went down really bad, Hive unfortunately was one of them
Yes, glad to have noticed it before something happened. About the market, yes, it's crazy, almost every coin / token have tanked but like before, I believe things will get better eventually.
I'm also hopeful it'll get better

That drop was crazy! I can't believe HIVE has fallen so much. In fact, I saw that many cryptocurrencies fell.

If I remember correctly, Binance recorded many of the crypto token lows in the past 24h. What a steal it would have been if there was a limit order around that level. But this was unexpected for most of us.
Discord is a hotbed for scammers, with Telegram. Good you discovered it soon enough :)

True, scammers are everywhere. Need to be more careful next time.
In Discord, there are many scammers, and we need to be careful. I encountered several, and I guess sometimes we lose our minds, especially when we become tense about something. Fortunately, nothing serious happened.

I will never understand the lack of shy basic screening that the DCity discord allows thousands of scammers into there server. It’s way worse than most other hive discords.
Hive is def heading much lower unfortunately. Considering it’s been moving lower during the crypto bull cycle I can say confidently it will go lower in bear cycle when as per usual 4 year cycle, bitcoin goes bear next year. Hive likely heading to .07 cents & not just a flash crash. I love this place but strictly price talk it’s happening.
