Realisation from "The Life List"

Watching has become a pastime, especially since I have yet to get a 'go' signal to do more than just laze around the house. One film that piqued my interest was The Life List, with Sofia Carson as the lead character. I didn't know her before this, but I tapped 'Play' anyway because it looked interesting.

I'm not going to do a review of it, but I'd like to share what it made me realise while watching, or the lessons that I thought it emphasised.

For one, the willingness to accept life changes.

Some of us respond (or react) negatively to change. We repel it to the point we get stressed, depressed, or feel unhappy. We whine, moan, or fret over it, and even blame others.

As we know, change is inevitable, and when we have an open mind, it is easier to embrace it even when it hurts. We welcome it even when it is uncomfortable. We accept it even when it disrupts our normal way of life.

Second is the importance of chasing one's dreams.

One thing that hit me is how some of us easily settle for less, even when we know we want something more or wish to do something else. We convince ourselves that we are okay. We become comfortable where we are and what we do, and before we know it, we give up on the life that we truly want.

Honestly, I have a certain dream that I keep setting aside. Why? Because I feel guilty, even with just the thought of pursuing it. Going after it would mean leaving the husband alone (I doubt he wants to join me when his sights are set on something else).

Anyway, the third emphasis of the film (to me at least) is self-discovery and personal growth.

When we are willing to embrace change, we break free and step out of our comfort zone. We dare to chase our dreams, and in doing so, we discover and learn more about ourselves, grow, and mature over time.

So yeah, the film is worth watching. It inspired me to create my own list, and hopefully, start to check off each one of them sooner rather than later.

Sometimes we get so overwhelmed by life mostly when things don't go as planned and we stop living unconsciously before we realize it a lot of time that passed us by.

I have seen the movie on Netflix, I probably would add it to my watch list

That's so true, and we tend to surrender accept what is, especially when time has passed, thinking we are too old to try again.

Have a good time if you do watch it :)

Your post really drew me in because you talked about how you connected those ideas to your own life, and I loved that. Embracing change, chasing what we truly want, and giving ourselves the chance to discover who we are all sound easy, but in reality, they’re not.

I think we all have dreams we put on hold for later. Maybe it’s time for me to stop waiting for the perfect moment and just start.

I thought so too. Not many people push through toward their dreams, especially when faced with challenges.

Maybe it’s time for me to stop waiting for the perfect moment and just start.

Go for it :)

There's a sense of intoxication(in a good way!) that comes with chasing one's dreams which also serve as a gateway for self-discovery, as one would be venturing outside their comfort zone. I'd probably give it a watch because the title is intriguing enough for me, thanks for sharing :)

I'm like cats, I hate changes, that stresses me off every time...

Chasing dreams is situational, real world might slap you in the face if you keep dreaming

Life has a way of hitting us right in the face😅
