NYM: Enabling Online Privacy [Plus Airdrop on CMC]

But Wait, What is NYM?

Nym is a decentralized privacy infrastructure that protects communication patterns, IP addresses, and metadata (device used, location, etc) for end-users, enterprises, and infrastructure operators. It solves the problem of internet traffic patterns being visible to anyone observing the network, even when content is encrypted.₍₁₎

According to the roadmap, the project started in 2018, and between then and 2020, it launched the Nym Wallet and explorers (Block, Mintscan, Mixnet, etc).

It released its token ($NYM) in 2022; started retail adoption in 2023 (i.e. integration of Monero and MetaMask wallets), launched zkNym credentials, NymVPN, etc. Now, it is working toward institutional adoption (partnership with Brave, Google, etc).

Nym's Key Features / Tools

• It routes internet traffic through a decentralized Mixnet that can be accessed anonymously using zk-nyms. The Nym Mixnet shields user's IP addresses, metadata, and traffic patterns. The mixnet can be integrated into any blockchain, wallet, or app.₍₂₎

• It provides strong network-level privacy against sophisticated end-to-end attackers.₍₃₎

• It enables anonymous transactions using blinded, re-randomizable, decentralized credentials (Nym Anonymous Credentials). It helps users maintain their privacy online and who can access their data.

• With NymVPN, users can enjoy secure browsing, streaming, and messaging with an unmatched blend of decentralized VPN, mixnet, and zero-knowledge payments.₍₄₎ It is currently in its private alpha phase and only whitelisted users can test it out. Summing Up

Nym has partnered with CoinMarketCap to do an airdrop where 200 lucky participants can share $20k worth of $NYM. The campaign ends in 3 days. Anyone with CMC diamonds can participate by going to the airdrop page. The tasks are simple and take a few minutes to complete.

The project (Nym) aims to establish privacy as the foundation for all digital communication and offer a solution against surveillance and unauthorized data collection when using the internet,₆ through its various features and tools (i.e. NymConnect, Mixnet, NymVPN which is in its closed alpha phase, etc).
