Lovely Hump Day

The rain finally took a rest, allowing the sky to show its beautiful colors today. We were to attend the wake of the husband's granny, but he suggested we go on Thursday. He came from another wake yesterday evening, so he wanted to skip a day before attending another.

Since he didn't have any other plans, we took advantage of the lovely weather and went for a quick run to the hardware store for some more boards. I didn't want to go, but the hubby convinced me, saying we would love the short drive (about 45 minutes one way), and I could also take photographs along the way. Okay, that sounded good, so why not!

The first shop didn't have enough of the quantity we needed, hence we drove farther. We thought of going to the other town, but then we remembered there was another shop near the gas station. Thankfully, they did have enough supply. We had to wait for the shop's boys to load our purchases, because they were attending to those who arrived before us. Yongi got bored somehow and rested on top of the truck's dashboard, lol!

Anyway, from there, we stopped by the farm supply. The hubby needed to inquire about something. There was a dog, and upon seeing Yongi, it kept barking. Being headstrong and boisterous, Yongi growled back. The big dog stopped at some point, and the LilGuy did the same.

He got tired of barking and had to stick out his tongue so he could breathe a little easier.

Anyway, after the hubby's inquiries at the farm store were satisfied, he thought of checking the fruit stand and bought Rambutan.

I am not a fan of this, but it's said to be rich in antioxidants, and it aids digestion. It's also a good source of nutrients (potassium, calcium, and dietary fiber). Accordingly, it has anti-inflammatory properties that are beneficial to those with gout or arthritis. So maybe I will start loving it for these benefits😊

The fruit did remind me of my very first nephew (my sister's son), who, when he was a kid, thought the fruit was a fluffy caterpillar and wouldn't touch it.😅 He cried a lot when his grandpa (Dad) teased him with it. Well, he eats them now and smiles whenever someone reminds him of the past.

I just don't like that the seeds skin sumasama Pg kinain KO ang laman.

Lol, I will need to be convinced try out rambutan at first glance. How is a fruit shape like this eaten? Maybe the beneficial angle will do half the work of convincing me to give it a try :)

You need to peel the outer skin (spiky ones). If you have eaten lychee, they have a resemblance.

Poor nephew, traumatized by a ‘fluffy caterpillar’ haha 😂 Glad he enjoys Rambutans now! Also, Yongi sounds like quite the character!

Haha, yeah. I always laugh whenever I remember it.

Yongi often barks at people and other dogs, lol

that bit about your nephew thinking rambutan was a fluffy caterpillar made my day.. I could totally see that scene and laugh now, kids are so dramatic :) Even if you are not a fan, giving rambuatn another try for those health perks sounds smart. Small wins like this make a long errand day feel lighter.

Yes, it's funny how he mistook them for caterpillars😂

You're right. I'm giving it a go this time, because my system needs the nutrients and the other benefits :)

At least he can rest for a day before going for another wake, the fruit body has hair, we don't have this one here

Yes. It can be tiresome to be out and about in successive days.
