Dream-Inspired Tuesday Tunes

Gorgeous Tuesday for us, yay!
Waking up to a nightmare during the wee hours is not new to me, but last night's was so terrifying that I couldn't go back to sleep afterward, especially since it involved my family. I felt so exhausted; my legs were numb and aching as if I had been running for hours.
Have you ever experienced such? Where you had been chasing someone in your dreams, and when you woke up, you felt as though you had been doing the same thing in real life? Crazy, yeah? Maybe my spirit went wandering again, lol!
The dream felt so real, I couldn't shake it off. And that inspired the theme of today's set of tunes in participation with the Three Tune Tuesday initiative by Ablaze.
The first below is by an American singer and songwriter, whose name sounded familiar, but I don't recall why. Reading his bio didn't help. Maybe I heard about him in passing. Anyway, here it is:
Teddy Swims - Bad Dreams
A single from his album I've Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 2), released in the third quarter of 2024.
I'm not a big fan of R&B, but Teddy's soulful voice and the mellow start got me to finish this and replay it a couple of times more, as the song sets me in a contemplative mood.
Interestingly, the artist is said to have struggled with bad dreams to the point that he cannot sleep or does not want to because he is afraid. So it's safe to say that his personal experience inspired the song's lyrics.
Anyway, the second tune is a couple of centuries-old rock ballad that explores the harshness of waking up to the reality of unrequited love.
REO Speedwagon - In My Dreams
This is the third single from their 1987 album Life As We Know It. The song reached the top 19 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and also the top 6 on the Adult Contemporary chart. It was called "a sentimental romantic spin" by the American music magazine, Cash Box. (src)
The rock band has been performing since its formation in 1966. However, they decided to stop touring, starting in January this year.
And finally, the third song for the day is from another 1960s band. This is my first time listening to them, and I like them (surprisingly).
Fleetwood Mac - Dreams
This soft (classic) rock has elements of pop, which is quite relaxing to listen to. It was written and originally sung by Stevie Nicks in 1977 for the band's 11th album. The music video above is a live performance by the band in Paris in 1980.
The song reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the group's only top-charting song in the US. Interestingly, it was named the 9th on Rolling Stone's 2021 List of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
In addition, this British-American rock group is one of the world's best-selling bands, having sold over 120 million records worldwide. (src)
And with that, let me end this edition of 'dreams-inspired' tunes. It was nice listening to them today. Enjoy!

2nd song is quite popular sis. I always hear it before.
I've experienced that kind of dream Sis. Escaping or someone is chasing me and would wake up tired and sometimes even crying. Maybe it's true that our spirit wanders that time😁
Oo sis, narinig ko na rin yon :)
And yes, siguro nga naglalakwatsa talaga spirits natin pag gabi😅

Really enjoyed reading this post! It’s interesting how you connected a scary dream with music that carries deep emotions. The mix of songs about dreams and unrequited love fits perfectly with the theme. A very creative way to turn a nightmare into something meaningful.
I'm glad you find it interesting, thank you. The nightmare inspired me to find songs with such theme ;)
Most times our dreams are terrifying 🤣
Not really nice when they occur that way😂

We all have good and bad dreams, and one day I had such a dream that I woke up scared. You have attached this music to dreams. This is also quite interesting music.
It seems nightmares are a common experience among most of us :) I'm glad you find the songs interesting, thank you

Most welcome.
Dreams that feel that real, I had one last night actually, especially when your body reacts like you actually went through it. I felt pain in my chest cause it was a lot of running.
The idea of choosing your songs from dreams is positive. Sometimes nightmares have a deep impact on our minds, but if you sing, that pain goes away. I like the songs you make at home.
