An Unplanned Drive
Magandang buhay💚
We were to attend the morning mass, but we were half an hour late, so the hubby thought we'd go for a ride, mentioning a mountain where tourists often go to because of the stunning views. "Okay," said I, without asking many questions. All I understood was that the place is in a town I haven't been to before. It would be a chance to check off one in my dream book. I wanted to visit most towns in our region.
Anyway, we bought takeaways for lunch and went forth. Driving many kilometers away, we passed by the signpost where I snapped a picture of the LilGuy over a week ago. I thought the place we attended a wake was part of this town, but it turned out to be different.
Anyway, we drove further, reaching the bridge and stopping there for a break, sightseeing, and of course, some photos. Here's my boy enjoying the sunshine atop the barrier.

While there, a woman and her daughter asked if they could hitch a ride with us. We told them we were there for sightseeing and might stay a bit longer at that spot, because we wanted to take pictures. They decided to walk, and we would pick them up along the way.
Here are some more photos for mementos.

It was interesting to see how they showcased each village's unique product through these artworks on painted rocks.

I love how they used Kilmer's poem as a reminder for everyone to preserve the trees. The phrases were printed on boards (like the one below) and displayed along the road.

After enjoying the sights near the bridge, we hopped back in the car, picking up the mother and daughter on the way, and dropping them off about two kilometers away (or maybe three). We went further, pulling over a few times to ask for directions from the locals.
We traversed narrow roads with curvy mountains in the distance. At some point, I thought we got lost, lol!

We have been driving up and down the mountains for an hour or so, then we sighted a residence.

Beside it is a viewing deck, probably built/financed by their local government.

We decided to take a break there to cool the engine down while we check out the surroundings. I even took shadow pictures on the deck (will share the photos at another time).

From the deck, we walked to the road barrier, where we took shelter under the tree. The LilGuy was delighted, he couldn't stop smiling, LOL! Nah, he was sticking his tongue because the day was hot. It was nearly midday, and we were unsure how far we were from our intended destination.

Driving further, we passed by this landmark, which means we were close, yay!

I was happy we were almost there, as I was already starving. The hubby said we would have a picnic at the peak. "What? Do you mean we will be hiking to the mountain?" I was truly surprised.
What happened next? I will share it next time, as this is already lengthy and has many pictures. Until then, cheers!
