An Evening at the Nainers

Dining out is one that we do from time to time especially when we are coming home late or when our tastebuds crave something different from what we usually prepare in the house. The hubby is mostly the initiator of it and I rarely say no because we both adore food, lol!

Also, it's one of our ways of creating more memories. It's a part and parcel of our bonding moments. At times, weird conversations happen when we are eating out.

Anyway, coming from the wake and then visiting my parents, we detoured downtown to grab a bite. The Farmboy was suggesting we go check out the other place near the Double C but it's more than half-an-hour drive away and it was getting late so we dismissed the idea. Here in the countryside (and in a small town like ours), establishments usually close early. By 6:30 pm, most shops would have shut their doors.

Out of the few diners closer to home, we know that one of our favorite food places (BC) often extends its business hours so we drove straight to it. Unfortunately, it was closed when we arrived which was quite unusual especially since it was quarter to 7 pm and they used to stay open until 8 or 9 pm.

Then we remembered that we were having a long weekend because Monday to Wednesday had been declared as official non-working holidays in the country. Long weekend they say so they may have taken the chance for a breather too. Thankfully, we found a cozy little place a few blocks away. A discovery, huh!

We were unsure what they were serving so the husband went to check their menu first to see if there was something we could eat and whether they allowed pets inside. They had rice meals, pasta, and pizza plus pets are welcome he said so why not!

There was a group of people dining when we went in but they left after a short while so it was just us afterward.

We noticed that the volume of the music was turned up so we opted to take the table closer to the balcony instead of the ones near the counter. We don't like loud sounds especially when we are eating because we can't converse and we tend to have indigestion.

There was a variety of pizzas and other dishes on their menu but most were unavailable at that time. They probably limited their stocks since their market (customers) are mostly students and schools and won't resume until tomorrow (Thursday).

There was nothing new for the palate to try out so the Farmboy ordered the pork chop sizzler with rice for himself. We giggled when it was served because it was so naked - not even a few slices of carrots or potatoes or anything else in it. Just the cup of rice and the sliced pork with some ketchup spread on top. There isn't any gravy either.

I opted for the pizza in two flavors which was recommended by the lady server (they called it half-in-half). Half of it was the Nainers flavor (cheese and a mix of hams and spam) and the other half was mushroom and bacon. Although the whole piece looked the same, lol!

There wasn't any smaller size so we had the largest. At least we can take any leftovers home.

We enjoyed our meals while our little guy rested on the chair beside me. He just had a few bites of the pizza and no more.

He often loses his appetite especially when we are out. He gets exhausted easily and on that day, he ran around at my parents' house playing with my niece and Dad.

But wait, how's the food?

Perhaps we spoke so soon because they were quite delightful. Despite being naked, the meat on the husband's hot plate was tender, well-seasoned and full of flavor.

The pizza was tasty and cheesy. The hubby consumed 3 slices of it even after having the rice meal. Not surprised though since he usually has a good appetite😅

All good!

We had the pizza leftovers in a takeaway box, paid our bill, and exited the place. They closed the doors as soon as we were downstairs. We were the last diners after all.

So we drove home with our tummies happy and satisfied. At least Nainers didn't disappoint. I'm pretty sure that one day, we will return to check out their other dishes.
