A Family Escapade

Vacations have been part of our family tradition for as long as I can remember. Beach, resorts, hot springs, swimming pools, sightseeing, BBQ, and what have you.

There were even times during my youth when we would take the four-hour drive to the city for a picnic or bike in its park. They were our simple pleasures then. Some things changed as everyone settled down and we got busier. But we still try to find time to go somewhere together at least once a year, mostly during the holidays (I have been sharing our various trips in the past).

Our last (not really the last because we intend to have more) little escapade was a trip to Nueva Viscaya at the end of last year until the New Year. My eldest sister, her family, my brother, her two girls, the Farmboy, and I. Our parents stayed home as Mom couldn't travel, and my second sister and her family could not make it because they were in the city and had commitments they couldn't escape from.

And so it was just nine of us.

Instead of heading straight to our intended destination, we took a detour and visited Polig's Farm where we trekked the Rocky Trail. I have written more about this adventure sometime in January.

We stopped by the dam where we were surprised by some unexpected sights, and finally drove to our destination.

On arriving, we took a stroll at St. Catherine Church where we were mesmerized by their decorations

We checked in at the Sofia Hotel, a lovely B&B, and the only pet-friendly place that allowed our LilGuy to be in the room with us. We even watched fireworks displays in the spacious compound until midnight and had a comfy and restful night afterward.

On waking up the next morning, we drove to SA Hills to visit a part of our investment. It was one of the purposes of the trip, apart from vacationing.😅

Well, we were happy the property was worth it. With much satisfaction, we returned to the B&B for the morning meal and then owned the pool afterward. My Yongi enjoyed some time on the grass, but the poor guy wasn't allowed a dip in the water. At least he was permitted on the poolside lounge chair.😅

We took a break, headed out to lunch, and then drove to an amusement park where we rendezvoused with Gorillas and such. Although most facilities were closed, we had fun. Thank goodness the place wasn't exclusive to kids!

So, when and where's the next?

We have another vacation planned three days from today. Everyone (including Dad) is going (except me, unfortunately). With my ongoing therapy sessions, I'm not allowed to go out and about, let alone be on a long drive. We will be stuck in DD for a while, but it is for my benefit, so I'll have to live with it, happily😁

Anyhow, this is how I approached the first question by Marivic on the 236th Edition of the Ladies of Hive weekly initiative. Thank you and have a fantastic new week, everyone!
