Why Helping Doesn't Always Lead to Gratitude: My Eye-Opening Experience

image using Ai.

Living in a time where people are facing difficulties and encountering problems in life but there are people who come forward to help and do good to each others.

To keep things balanced in life and making a world better place we can always come forward and do good to others.

I've made a rule of my life to help others when I can, if I'm capable to help someone I'd do and won't expect anything in return.

Sometimes when do good things for others they don't really appreciate it no matter your intentions are good.. they'll show you their true face eventually and something like that happened to me some years ago.

When doing Good thing for someone turned into a disaster

I had this good friend back when I was in college and we used to sit together on the same bench from the first day. I thought we're best friend and always used to help him wether it was understanding something or with notes etc.

This one day he told me to he got sick and can't complete his assignment, so I said don't worry you take care of yourself and I'll take care of that assignment.. you don't have to worry about it.

I completed mine and than did his one which took more time and efforts but I was doing that for a friend otherwise never did that before for anyone else.

The next day after submitting assignments

He came at college next day like nothing happened to him.. he was actively playing sports and I was glad he's fine.

Anyways later we submitted assignments and both of those assignments had some minor mistakes need to be corrected as told by the teacher.

So when I was expecting him to appreciate that I helped him with something he couldn't do himself.

He instead started blaming that I did mistake and now we'll have to fix it.

I was like buddy what the F... just be grateful that it's completed on time and we're not getting fined for not submitting it on time.

Later I found out he lied for his benefit

When I thought I'm doing something good for him by helping him with work while he's sick.. I found out he wasn't sick at all.

He just lied that he's not feeling well and taking medicine etc just to get that assignment done by me.

That day I decided to not talk to him again because he could've simply told truth and I'd have did that work but even after doing good to him.. he was trying to point my mistake and blame all that on me.

Wrapping Up...

From that day I just realised sometimes no matter how good you do for others they just don't appreciate it at all.

People are selfish and they take advantage whenever they can no matter if it cost that year long friendship or relationship. some human are just built like this and I learnt my lesson that day.

Still I do good for others not expecting anything in return but when other people start to say something else instead of appreciating your help.. it just breaks my heart.

I wonder if this kind of thing ever happened with you? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

People are getting selfish and it's not a good change and people lie a lot for their advantage or using the lie they try to use us. Whatever you have done was good but unfortunately your friend doesn't deserve it. You lost nothing but that person lost a good friend.
