Government vs the People: The Battle Over Internet Access in Digital Era

Nowadays I don't know many people who aren't on internet yet and internet is part of everyone's life even you go to villages where network exists

People use internet like every other person so it's more like a basic need in our life but I kind of want it to be fundamental human right.

Like it's our right to have access to internet as long as we're citizen of whatever country and aren't Involved in the criminal activities.

Even some criminals in jail do have access to internet nowadays but there's country like mine where a whole nation won't have access to internet when government is facing backlash and is in some serious trouble because of protest in a specific place.

No use of Internet When they're in Trouble

From last couple of years I've noticed every single time there was a protest on a big scale first thing government do is cut off the internet

So the public don't get to know what's going on in the country as the mainstream media won't talk about it since government control everything.

It's our right to have internet and say on the internet, free speech only exist as long as you're not talking about government.

Once you're on that path, you'll have no internet connection.

About couple of weeks ago we had no internet for about 3 days and it was almost everywhere in this country and during that time; Freelancer lost clients, people working for foreign companies lost jobs cause of internet unavailability.

And hundreds of millions of dollars lost in economy just because government didn't wanted people on internet.

Imagine Losing Job because you're not getting access to internet

I've not heard this thing happened to anywhere else in this world except in Pakistan, you'll lose job on some random day government decide to restrict internet for a day, two or maybe week.

How they do is like restrict internet access in the country make no official statement about it

Not on media, nowhere else, people will use VPN and complain about it but no one will cover that

When it'll be time for government to come out of shadow and make a statement, they'll say something happened in the ocean that made Internet stop working and now it's back after they've worked on it.

They don't care about the people losing job, losing clients and fortune because of having no internet.

I remember same thing happened with me when there was no internet for 3 days - I was frustrated and mad wondering what the heck would be going on in the market and if I got liquidated while not being able to watch that trade play out...I was too stressed and so those people who had job but who cares? No one.

Wrapping Up...

This is one of reasons why most of people want to leave this country and live somewhere else where they can have basic needs and access to internet

Even when internet is in human fundamental rights it won't do any good because gov never claims they're the one who restricted access to internet, no official statement or such
