Good Neighbours…

Considering the number of unimaginable things happening in the world today and the lengths people can go to prove a point or do something, always pray to have good neighbours.

What is your relationship with your neighbors?

Being surrounded by good people saves you from a lot of drama and stress. You might not necessarily appreciate the people who live peacefully around you until you see what others go through in their neighbourhood; then you'll be grateful for the kind of people (neighbours) you have.

Growing up, I had the most beautiful relationship with my neighbors. What was supposed to end at the exchange of pleasantries and occasional smiles birthed a strong bond, one that has stood the test of time.

So many years have gone by, but I still can't forget the wonderful relationship my neighbours and my family shared. These neighbours of ours were so good to us to the point that my siblings and their children became best friends. We all had our own 'person' in the family, and it made living in the neighborhood peaceful and fun.

My Neighbours made trips from school interesting and fun as we always looked forward to returning from school and playing our lungs out with them. We created little traditions that we tried to uphold even as kids.

We all became one big family, so it was hard for us to be separated. When it was time for my neigbours to move out of their apartment, my siblings and I cried bitterly, we also wanted to move with them😄

It was hard to stay all alone with our favourite people out of sight.
We begged our father to rent an apartment close to my neighbour's new apartment, but my dad would always laugh at us. I couldn't blame him, how can he leave the house he built with his flesh and sweat to go rent an apartment somewhere else? The little things our little minds could not understand.

These neighbours of ours were incredible as they made my childhood fun and memorable. Raised by families with different backgrounds and values, it was nice to have a blend of both worlds.

They were the kindest people that I have ever met, and my experience with them made me believe all neigbours were the same. They set the standard for what neighbourliness should entail. It took a while for me to understand that not all neigbours are the same. The fact that I stay in your neigbourhood does not guarantee kindness and warmth and trust me I got the memo.

Over the years, I’ve moved a few times, and in all those times I never had a close relationship with my neighbours until recently. It feels so good to have your person in the neighborhood.
