Beyond Small Talk

I enjoy soul-stirring, deep conversations, not the type that only entertains or heightens dopamine rush but the ones that not only stir something in you but motivates you to swing to action, those types of conversations? My absolute favorite!

Today, I had one of those refreshing conversations with a friend. We’ve been friends for so many years, and we don’t talk often, but when we do, it’s always epic, and I look forward to talking to her again.

We spoke at length today, while speaking to her, I felt good and lighter. She knew just the right words to say; her positive energy was contagious, and her words were logical, impactful, and devoid of emotion. What I spent weeks worrying about, she dissected it like it was nothing, and we moved on from it like I didn’t spend so many weeks overthinking it. To my friend, life is simple and she never fails to express it at every given opportunity.

I love having these kinds of conversations with people not the ones that constantly remind you of how terrible the world is and the never-ending problems you have to fix.

I understand that we cannot always have uplifting conversations every time with our friends as people are different, but I wish we could. It would be really nice. Such conversations go a long way.

The world is already what it is, people do not need to be constantly reminded of how their lives are and how broken and unreliable the system is. It’s okay to sweep all of that under the carpet and be optimistic about the future. It’s okay to take a break from your never-ending problem and breathe a little bit. I mean, it’s not gonna hurt anyone right?

What do you think? Do you agree, or would you rather discuss your problems as a means to subdue the pain? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments!

@ibbtammy...

Beyond small talk, indeed! A beautiful example of things that are thoughtful, positive, and display the wonders of the human condition. I'll be honest... this section here? Very powerful:

"I love having these kinds of conversations with people not the ones that constantly remind you of how terrible the world is and the never-ending problems you have to fix."

I don't believe in holding onto the pain... I feel it's best to talk everything through. But I also think we all deserve a break sometimes... life will challenge us on a daily basis! Sometimes we gotta "play hooky" LOL. Thank you, know you... for being you!
