Hello travelers from the @worldmappin community!

Today, I have the pleasure of inviting you to get to know and walk the streets of Havana, exploring its urban styles, landscapes, and the natural ambiance of the everyday Cuban. I will also show you an exhibition from the XIV Regional Landscape Salon, recognized as a recurring event in the artistic period of the capital's cultural history, at the gallery of the Provincial Council of Visual Arts in the city.

Hoy tengo el placer de invitarlos a conocer y caminar las calles de la habana, desde sus estilos urbanísticos, paisajes y ambiente natural del cubano de a pie. También les presentaré una exhibición del XIV Salón Regional de Paisaje, reconocido como la manifestación reiterada en el período artístico de la historia de la cultura capitalina, en la galería del Consejo Provincial de las Artes Plásticas (CPAP) en la provincia.

Walking through Old Havana and its surroundings is one of my favorite pastimes whenever I visit the capital. The main jewel is, without a doubt, the monumental Capitol building, the most emblematic historical symbol of the island, which every Cuban and tourist should see.

This hotel that I'm showing you below is the Saratoga, which a few days before its reopening had an explosion due to a gas leak, resulting in 47 fatalities and several injured. In response, a massive search and rescue operation was carried out for several days.

Caminar la habana vieja y sus alrededores es de mis pasatiempos favoritos cada vez que visito la capital. La principal es la joya monumental del Capitolio sin duda, el símbolo histórico más emblemático de la isla, que todo cubano y turista debería conocer.

Este hotel que les muestro a continuación, es el Saratoga que días antes de la inauguración tuvo una explosión por una fuga de gas, llevando al suceso 47 fallecidos y varios heridos. En respuesta se llevó a cabo una operación de búsqueda y rescate masivo por varios días.

Venturing into the historic center and the most visited place by foreign tourists, we find the Catholic church Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, now a concert hall and museum of sacred art.

Adentrándome al casco histórico y el lugar más visitado por turistas extranjeros, nos encontramos a la iglesia católica Basílica San Francisco de Asís, ahora sala de conciertos y museo de arte sacro.

The statue of the city's great walker, known as the "Gentleman of Paris." He is a character immortalized in a bronze statue in honor of José María López Lledín, a very famous vagabond from the 1950s. It is believed that touching his beard brings good luck and positive energy. So, if you're passing through Cuba 🇨🇺, don't hesitate to fill yourself with the flavor and good vibes of the walker.

La estatua del gran caminante de la ciudad, conocido como el caballero de Paris. Es un personaje inmortalizado en una estatua de bronce en honor a José María López, vagabundo muy famoso en la década de los 50. Se cree que cogerle la barba da buena suerte y buena energía. ¡ Así que no dudes si andas de pasada por cuba 🇨🇺 llenarte de sabor y buena vibra del caminante.

Old Havana, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an open-air museum. Its cobblestone streets, wrought-iron balconies, gardens, and colorful facades reflect centuries of history.

You can feel art in every corner. In its parks and streets, you can find everything from traditional paintings to contemporary murals that reflect daily life and Cuban passion.

La habana vieja declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, es un museo al aire libre. Sus calles empedradas, balcones de hierro forjado, jardines y fachadas coloridas reflejan siglos de historia.

Se respira arte en cada rincón. En sus parques y calles se puede encontrar desde pinturas tradicionales hasta murales contemporáneos que reflejan la vida cotidiana y la pasión cubana.

On the other hand, already on the way to the gallery, there is the facade of the Museum of Fine Arts with its colonial, Neoclassical structure and colorful old cars for trips for foreigners who wish to learn more about the Havana surroundings.

In the cafes and plazas, musicians improvise while visitors enjoy the hospitality of the Cuban people.

Por otra parte ya de paseo a la galería, está la fachada del Museo de Bellas Artes con su estructura colonial, Neoclásica y de autos antiguos coloridos para viajes a extranjeros que desean conocer más sobre los alrededores habaneros.

En los cafés y plazas, los músicos improvisan mientras los visitantes disfrutan de la hospitalidad del pueblo cubano.

Their gazes are captivating, and yet they make me sad because of the country's current situation—its economy, the intense power outages that last for hours, the lack of water and food.

But I'm surprised that at least being able to go out and clear your head in the capital brings a little joy to the daily grind and stress.

Miradas que enamoran y a la vez me ponen triste por la situación del país actual, su economía, los intensos apagones de varias horas, la falta de agua y alimentos.

Pero me sorprende que al menos aún salir y despejar en la capital te alegra un poco el día a día del trabajo y estrés diario.

To begin this presentation of the 14th Regional Landscape Exhibition 2025, inaugurated for the entire month of October, where over 30 works and landscape practices are shared with the presence of creators from the provinces of Sancti Spíritus and Camagüey.

Landscape, like other artistic languages since ancient times, transcends itself, updates, and classifies in contemporaneity.

Para comenzar esta exposición del XIV Salón Regional de Paisaje 2025 inaugurada por todo el mes de Octubre, donde se comparten más de 30 obras y práctica paisajística con la presencia de creadores de las provincias Sancti Spirítus y Camagüey.

El paisaje, coincide con otros lenguajes artísticos desde tiempos pretéritos, este, se trasciende a sí mismo, actualiza y, clasifica en la contemporaneidad.

Another edition in favor of recognizing the landscape genre as a tradition of Havana's culture is offered by the Raúl Martínez Art Gallery, an exhibition space showcasing samples of the artistic work of the participants.

Established landscape artists, distinguished by the uniqueness of their imprint, stand out as they continue to express themselves through their respective visions of this artistic genre.

Otra edición a favor del reconocimiento del género paisaje como tradición de la cultura habanera, ofrece la Galería de Arte Raúl Martínez, espacio expositivo en el cual se exhiben muestras del quehacer artístico de los participantes.

Destacan por la singularidad de su impronta, paisajístas consagrados, quienes continúan expresándose a través de sus respectivas miradas a este género artístico.

From a techno-formal point of view, landscape preserves the essence of its ancient image, enriched by each culture through its authors. However, attempts at renewal are appearing, along with pretentious lines and brushstrokes distanced from the legendary composition.

Desde el punto de vista tecnoformal, el paisaje, preserva la esencia de su remota imagen, enriquecida por cada cultura a través de sus autores. No obstante, aparecen intentos de renovación, así como pretenciosas líneas y manchas distanciadas de la legendaria composición.

Artistic manifestations such as drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and mixed media, among others, converge in the Event. The recurrence of styles, schools, and distinguished ways of creating landscape is predominant; sometimes, even surrealist concepts are incorporated. However, not all artistic resources manage to achieve certain effects, which are essential in the well-known journey of forming a landscape.

Manifestaciones artísticas tales como: dibujo, pintura, grabado, fotografía, y la técnica mixta, entre otros, confluyen, en el Evento. Resulta predominante la recurrencia a estilos, escuelas, y distinguidas formas de hacer paisaje, incluso, a veces, se insertan presupuestos surrealistas. Sin embargo, no todas los recursos plásticos logran la posibilidad de determinados efectos, imprescindibles en el consabido periplo para la conformación de un paisaje.

This Salon is graced by the presence of Abel Denis, a participant in the First Painting Exhibition and founder of the Movement of Aficionados, who is currently a cultivator of the landscape genre in our province.

Once again, landscape creation honors great visual artists, masters of local scenes; as well as teachers skilled in the use of the spatula, impastos, and brushstrokes, loaded with bright blue and green colors thanks to the light.

Prestigia este Salón, Abel Denis, participante en la Primera Exposición de Pintura, y fundador del Movimiento de Aficionados, quien, actualmente, es cultor del paisaje en nuestra provincia.

Otra vez, la creación paisajista, honra grandes plásticos, dueño de parajes de la localidad; también, maestros en el domino de la espátula, empastes y manchas, cargadas de los colores azul y verde brillantes gracias a la luz.

Perhaps the next call for entries for the Regional Salon will define the boundaries of the genre in question, or it may simply be a matter of free artistic creation with an unlimited theme—in all its expressions—which would clarify its task for the traditional landscape artist, the supposed reason for its very existence.

Quizás la próxima convocatoria del Salón Regional delimite sobre el género en cuestión o, simplemente, se trataría de la libre creación plástica con temática ilimitada—en todas sus expresiones—, lo cual esclarecería su encargo al paisajista tradicional, supuesta razón de la existencia del mismo.

The artists teach us to see, to find natural beauty in the whole. They express on their canvases a range of vibrant colors and quick brushstrokes to capture the essence of environmental landscapes. Therefore, we must be able to let our gaze wander across that surface presented to our vision, let it tell us stories and awaken emotions, making this gallery a feast not just for the eyes, but for the soul as well.

Los artistas nos enseñan a ver, a encontrar la belleza natural en el todo. Expresan en los cuadros una tonalidad de colores vibrantes y pinceladas rápidas para captar la esencia de los paisajes ambientales. Por ello, tenemos que ser capaces de dejar que nuestra mirada recorra esa superficie que se ofrece ante nuestro visión, que nos cuente historias y despierte sentimientos, haciendo de esta galería no solo una fiesta para los ojos, sino también para el alma.

At this point, involving every member of the ACAA with the existing exhibition events in the province, bringing their work closer to the public, and insisting on the promotion and support of the artist are alternatives that could bring us full galleries and satisfied expectations. With this new installment of the regional landscape exhibition, there's nothing left to do but shout from the rooftops, "Long live landscape art!"

A estas alturas, involucrar a cada uno de los miembros de la ACAA con los eventos expositivos existentes en la provincia, acercar su trabajo al público e insistir en la promoción y el acompañamiento del artista, son alternativas que pudieran devolvernos galerías llenas y expectativas satisfechas. Con esta nueva entrega del salón regional de paisajes, no queda otra que gritar, a los cuatro vientos, ¡Larga vida al paisajismo!
