Lighting Candles at the Church: A Quiet Birthday Tradition
Hello there my lovely hivers!!
It's been a tradition for us to light a candle in the Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of St. Vicente ferrer. They had a separate space intended for the devotees to lit a candle to pray. This place is called an "Oratio Intentiones" it was created in the early 20's. Outside of the place there were some reminders that you should observe silence and also this is a sacred place. The whole place was really quiet and clean.
As we went inside, there were few people in here and we just bought 7 candles. This is a small size and it's perfectly fit for the lighting area. I bought 7 candles because every time we go in here my mom just only bought 7 pieces. And that made me recall that we should just buy 7. Some people said that it's not recommended to even buy candles so every time, I would light a candle in different places. I just bought candles.
I've already shared a blog about this place when my mother and I went in here. And now it's me and my sister this was the late celebration of her birthday since on her birthday it's the weekend and we didn't have time to lit a candle of our chapel. The reason behind that was we had each circle of friends and each of us split.
There was a guide on the lighting area. And it's been really a good idea for the devotees to pray in the right way.
While, I was looking around I saw these excess candles and it was really a lot. In every lightning area there was a lot of excess and I kept thinking that if they would recycle this all excess candles.
My sister told me to take a picture of her, while she was praying so I then clicked the camera.
I find it cute so I then told my sister to also take a picture of me. To just document our moment together.
Take and look and see. It feels really calming, it was really quiet and there were just a few people in here.
They had also a pilgrame office in here and the design was really good. It's a modern style.
As we went outside, my sister wanted to take a solo picture. So am I.
Lastly, we took a selfie together.

We have a similar tradition in Italy but when we burn candle it's usually for praiing for help of for solve some problems,by the way burning candles are so fascinating.
