Fiesta Celebration for Sta. Filomena
Hello there my lovely hivers!!
The third week of Saturday in August will be the fiesta of the Sta. Filomena in our town. It's been a tradition to us that every fiesta we will be heading in our chapel to light a candle and then touch each of the saints to pray and thank them for all the things. Before the day of the fest, there was a 9th day straight of novena dedicated to Sta. Filomena.
We had a research study about our church and I found out that this chapel was the first created before the church. It's been our tradition to do a feast to celebrate Sta. Filomena.
The place was full of lights and had so much flowers on the inside. To make the saint of Sta. Filomena more alive and appealing. They maintain the cleanliness of the place as the fest was ongoing. Since there were a lot of devotees who came here and lit a candle.
The saint of sta. Filomena were surrounded with beautiful flowers and greens. This chapel would be alive in the month of July to august. There would be a mass or even a novena in here. Every year, the design of this chapel would be different. I really love the idea of having a flowers surrounded by this Sta. Filomena.
This chapel was created with the traditional stone. This chapel was just the same since I was in elementary and I can remember when we were here in my 3rd grade. The inside and the outside of the chapel were no changes until now. But I hope this chapel of ours would be bigger since there were so many devotees of Sta. Filomena. I hope those people that had so many blessings would donate to the renovation of our Patron saint. In every corner of the chapel they put a saint on it. On the altar they put a lot of greens and flowers on it. Inside the chapel there are 3 saints of Sta. Filomena but different sizes. This one has a lot of flowers around it.
It made me feel uncomfortable since I wore a short and it's prohibited to our religion to wear a short that was above the knee. But on my top I wore a cardigan so it wasn't too flashy.
This was the big saint here of our chapel, it is placed in the center. The design was really colorful and good for the eyes. Plus the lights that they put on the inside to make the saint more pleasing to the eyes. My friend captured a photo of me while I was praying for our patron saint.
Every time I was inside the church devoting our patron saint, there's a memory that keeps flashing in my mind those moments that we spend on my elementary days. Also back then in my shs my brother and I would attend the novena for the fest. But now that we were so busy with our academics, we forgot the novena in our chapel.
