My Another Birthday Eating at Sushi Zanmai & Madam Croffle
I had my another birthday celebration eating with my ex-colleagues and one of their daughters at Sushi Zanmai and then at Madam Croffle. Our relationship grew from ex-colleagues to comrades, supporting one another during our challenging times.
I remembered we became closer because we often did ministry together, travelling to outstation churches with our Senior Pastor. That's how we gradually became close, teamwork plus we had chance to know each other's weakness and strengths after staying and working together during outstation time. Myself and one of them had become mothers now, and another one is my Pastor who had seen me and guided me since I was 22 years old. 20 years had passed and she is still the one I will go to whenever I need advice.
Let's Sushi Zanmai!!!
My Pastor asked me what I felt like eating. I told her I would love to have some Japanese food. So, we chose Sushi Zanmai.
Food we ordered
Donburi Beef Bulgogi
Little did I know, when we reached, I ordered beef bulgogi rice once I spotted it, a more Korean-kind of dish. Suddenly, I did not feel like eating sushi anymore. The power of beef bulgogi. And I only wanted beef bulgogi. I told them that was Japanese because it stated Donburi in the menu, soft fluffy Japanese rice. Donburi beef bulgogi. It was super delicious.
Soba
My friend ordered soba aka cold noodle. She let us tried some because the portion was big. I would never order cold noodle, but surprisingly, it was actually appetizing. She taught me that we needed to dip the soba into the soup then slurped the noodle and enjoyed. Learned new thing that day.
Temaki
My Pastor ordered temaki. She was on diet, wanting to lose weight, so she ate quite little.
Shoyu Noodle
My friend's eldest daughter chose this noodle and she said the soup was super duper flavourful. What's best about this noodle soup was the huge amount of vegetables. She loves eating vegetables.
She added a few dishes to be shared among us all.
Avocado Crab Salad
This was surprisingly appetizing too. I was not a fan of salad but this got me hooked. The sauce made of lemon, some Japanese sauce made the whole dish super delicious.
Sushis and Salmon Mentai Roll
They asked me to choose one Japanese dish since I chose bulgogi earlier, so I opted for salmon mentai roll, I love this which served with avocado, cucumber, Japanese mayo and cod roe. Extra yummy. The Sushis were so-so only, nothing special.
Madam Croffle
Since I had not tried this new pastry in town, they insisted I must try because they knew I would never buy such food for myself. They said it was croissant and waffle got married and became croffle. 😂 Get the joke? 2 became 1. I chose the plain one without any topping. It was really buttery, cheesy and super fragrant yummy. Crispy when bite but soft and fluffy at the centre. In the end, I bought two for my sons. My Pastor walked to the shop beside Madam Croffle to buy some seaweed churos for us to eat together.
It was meaningful time together. Super relaxing to eat without rushing the time to go home. We could talk about anything under the sun, but that day, we did practise some self-control because we had a 12-year-old with us too. Time like this was rare. I treasure friendship such as this. Another good food and good company.
Too great times together until we had ZERO photos together. None of us remembered to take any of the faces photos. Lol.
