The impact of social media on mental health🤦💔
Yes, social media has helped us in connecting with each other and aswell building relationships.
Just as it has its own benefits, it's not left without its own bad side.
Most of our parents today believe that social media has made the society not to focus so much on their life, there's a way our parents do look at social media bah,it's Asif it's a different kind of sin to them, people like my mother to be precise could rate social media not upto 50%, she feels it doesn't make us focus, its only deviating our attention from God 😂, and damaging our lifestyle most importantly.
They see social media in a different dimension.
So something actually made me to come up with this topic, it was late in the night I was on bed chatting, viewing status and watching videos online as usual, when i came across a long time friend's post, expressing how she has been struggling lately, from her words I could sense so much frustration and depression.
She started by telling me how things wasn't working out for her, how people she grew up with are doing far better than her, we had a lengthy conversation though, how they were doing so fine she thought by their post, living their best lives, posting pictures and updates of their live, their perfect relationship and living a luxury life. And felt things weren't working for her
From that conversation, I understood how she allowed social media live to get into her too much forgetting that there's always face 2 of live outside social media.
I began to understand the pressure we put ourselves in when we're too obsessed with luxury life,
From there we begin to bring problems to ourselves, putting unnecessary burden to ourselves that will make us really frustrated.
It was clear that social media was playing a vital role in her feelings of frustration and desperation, she was comparing her own life to the social media perfect lives of others, and it was taking a toll on her mental health.
She had forgotten that everyone presents an edited version of themselves in social media and that nobody posts about their struggles, doubts and fears
The experience of my friend shows the impact of social media on mental health, when we compare our lives to others on social media, we can feel like we're not good enough, like we're missing out, or like we're somehow failing.
But the truths is that nobody posts their struggles, doubts and fears on social media. Everyone has their own unique experiences.
Focusing on people's live both in real life and social media is really unnecessary, cause it's will only bring you so much pain emotionally especially when you can't afford the lifestyle.
Social media will whine you, people don't show their struggles on media, large number of them fake most of the things they show in social media and so, it's a very bad idea comparing your lifestyle with the ones on social media..
Social media has misled the life of so many people with this fake life of a thing 🤧
May God help us all....
