Success
My view on what success mean....
Growing up, I had this image in my head of what success looked like. I thought success was wearing a suit, working in a big office, and having lots of money to throw around. It was the kind of dream most children unconsciously pick up from what they see in movies or hear from adults. But as I grew older, life started teaching me that success isn’t one size fits all. It changes from person to person, and it can even change within you over time.
I’ve always been a dreamer, I still am. I’ve had different dreams at different stages of my life. Some were wild and impossible, some were small and quiet. There was a time I wanted to become a doctor, then later, a lawyer. There was even a phase I thought being a motivator would be my thing. But one thing I’ve always known deep within me is that I don’t want to live a life that feels like I'm just existing, I want to live fully, with purpose.
For me, success is not just about money, even though money plays a big part in making life easier. But I’ve seen people with money who were still miserable. They had everything in their bank account but nothing in their heart. So now, I see success as a balance. A life where I can sleep in peace, knowing I didn’t hurt anyone intentionally. A life where I can eat what I like without checking my account balance first. A life where the people I love are proud to call me theirs. That’s what success means to me now.
Yes, I still have dreams, one of them are still the same from years ago, and some are new. I'm not living all of them yet, but I haven’t given up either. Sometimes life would pushed you in different directions, and you'd to adjust. There were moments I felt like quitting. Moments I actually paused, lost motivation, or took steps backward. But something within me, hope, faith, or just stubborn passion, keeps me going. I believe dreams can evolve and that’s okay. What matters is not giving up on the essence of what you truly want.
Financial freedom? Of course, I want that. Who doesn’t? I want to be able to bless others, support my family, and take care of myself without depending on anyone. To me, financial freedom is not about having billions, it's being able to afford a good life without fear of running out. It’s about freedom. The freedom to say yes to opportunities, to travel when I want, to support a friend in need without checking my budget. That kind of freedom is what I call financial success.
But I also know that money alone cannot fill the soul. That’s why my perception of success goes beyond just what’s in my wallet. It includes mental peace, emotional safety, a sense of purpose, and meaningful relationships. What’s the use of being rich if you have no one to share your joy with?
Sometimes I ask myself, when will I know that I’ve made it, At what point can someone truly say they’ve succeeded? And honestly, I think there’s no one answer to that. Life is a journey, and every time we hit a milestone, another dream is born. So maybe we don’t ever really arrive, we just keep moving, growing, and living. But I do believe in taking time to enjoy the fruits of your hard work. I believe in rest. I believe in saying, I’ve done well, now let me breathe.
We all carry different definitions of success, and that’s okay. For someone, success might mean buying a house. For another, it’s finding love or being able to forgive. Success doesn’t always have to be loud. Sometimes it’s quiet, personal, and deeply felt in moments of peace and gratitude.
So yes, I have dreams. Yes, I’m still on the journey. And yes, I believe I’ll get there in my own time, in my own way.
Because success, to me, is not just about what I’ve achieved, it’s about who I’ve become in the process.
In the journey to achieve success, some people tend to loose theirselves in the process while some end up achieving their goal but regardless your convictions, aspirations, passion and resolve should still be burning bright.
Money alone doesn't make somebody truly successful but strategic relationships and foresight, solidifies everything.
I enjoyed reading your perspective on what success means. Thank you for sharing @iamgracia2
When it comes to success achieving it, is really not an easy role but consistency and hard work it's possible
