Reunited after years

It’s been years since I last saw this particular friend of mine. Life happened, school, distance, responsibilities. so we’ve mostly kept in touch through social media. We’d reply each other’s stories, drop a few I miss you messages here and there, and promise to link up someday. You know how it goes, let’s plan something soon that keeps getting postponed.
But today, today, we finally met.

As soon as I saw them, something in me lit up. It felt like no time had passed at all. We hugged, smiled like children, and just stood there looking at each other like, Wow, you’re really here. We had so many plans, we wanted to go out, catch up properly over food, take nice pictures, walk around town, and just create fresh memories.

But life, as usual, had other plans. The weather decided to mess with us. Out of nowhere, the rain started and refused to stop. It poured and poured all day. At first, we were disappointed, our plans were literally washed away. But instead of letting it ruin our day, we made the best of it.

We stayed indoors, talked for hours, and laughed till our stomachs hurt. We brought up old memories, talked about how we’ve changed, what life has done to us, and where we hope to go from here. We played music, danced around like nobody was watching, and took silly pictures. It was simple, yet so beautiful.

Sometimes, the best days are the ones you don’t expect much from. The rain may have stopped us from going out, but it didn’t stop us from reconnecting. If anything, it gave us more time to really talk, to sit still and enjoy each other’s presence without the noise of the outside world.

By the end of the day, I didn’t even care about the weather anymore. I was just deeply grateful that after all these years, I got to sit in the same space as my friend, laugh about the past, and share thoughts about the future. It reminded me how important it is to hold on to people who matter, even if life creates distance.

So yeah, the rain messed up our plans, but it gave us something better. It gave us peace, closeness, and a day I’ll remember for a long time.
