The Negreira Case

The Negreira case has been ongoing for about two years, if I am correct, and there has still been no final judgment that FC Barcelona was paying the refereeing committee millions of euros to officiate matches in favour of Barcelona. The case sparked more reaction in recent weeks as Real Madrid president Florentino Perez made statements regarding the case and is ready, in his own words, to bring justice against Barcelona for the corruption (which has not been proven guilty) he presumed the club had committed.

The case has gone cold now, and I am sure it was because of the holiday break in La Liga, as there were no fixtures, but I expect that to change this evening if Barcelona wins their match against Espanyol in the Catalan Derby. It has become a norm for Spanish media and Real Madrid fans to bring up the Negreira case each time FC Barcelona wins a match. Now, Real Madrid and their president, Florentino, who are the main pushers of this Negreira case, are not as innocent as they claim to be in all this drama unfolding in La Liga.

There have been reports about Real Madrid's illegal activities with referees in the league, but nobody has gone on to investigate these claims as it just seems the La Liga authorities are afraid of Real Madrid and I won't take into account what La Liga President Javier Tebas said some weeks ago about Real Madrid being uninvolved when the case was taken up by Laliga and this was because at that time Real Madrid and Barcelona were pushing for the Super League to take effect which would have seen both clubs earn 2 billion euros each if they competition was allowed to be held.

This statement just makes sense and proves Real Madrid were only keeping quiet because it aided their interest but since the Super League has become a thing of the past and Barcelona also made it known that they have withdrawn fully from pushing the competition it makes more sense for Real Madrid to decide to take up the Negreira case to this level. There is no doubt that Barcelona paid the refereeing committee an amount of money, which Laporta has confirmed, but it was not for the referee to give Barcelona special calls, and there are documents that have been provided to back up these claims by the club president.

This case has been dragging on for a long time, and I want it to be done for good. This case has questioned Messi's career at the club, which is absurd because anyone who watches Messi can clearly see that he was on another level on the pitch, or should we go into Pep Guardiola's 2010 Barcelona team, which was unstoppable on the pitch. The same team that gave birth to the tiki taka, which has been part of Barcelona's DNA for a long time. The case is still being attended to in court, and hopefully, a judgment will be given by the judge.

So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
