The Champions League Is Back

Source

The UCL is back but funny enough I had no idea that it was happening this week because I have been distracted by the AFCON competition which concluded on Sunday and still in shock that Nigeria lost that final to Ivory Coast. There were a lot of things that happened during the coronation section in the AFCON which I found absurd and one of them was Nwabali being robbed of the golden glove which he deserved in the tournament, anyways that is over now let's get back to the Champions League.

Last night, which was Tuesday, two fixtures were played in the Champions League round of sixteen. Real Madrid played away from home against RB Leipzig and defending Champions Manchester City played away from home against Copenhagen. Real Madrid and Manchester City are favourites to win this year's edition of the UCL considering their form this season Real Madrid has always been a contender in every edition of the UCL for as long as I can remember so it's nothing new for the Galacticos side.

Both Real Madrid and Manchester City won the first leg of their round of sixteen match and the second leg should be early next month if I am correct. Manchester City are looking more dangerous since the return of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland. These two players have a tight bond on the field and it is safe to say the EPL teams should be terrified of this duo. Real Madrid has got incredible players and they have what it takes to win the UCL obviously but I will be putting my money on City and I am 100% sure City would win against Real Madrid if they meet this season.

It will be incredible for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola if they win the Champions League again this season and I think it is possible that could happen so I am looking forward to seeing how Manchester City move in the UCL this year. The UCL match that is important to me is Napoli Vs FC Barcelona which will take place next week. Napoli and Barcelona are currently out of form so it will be interesting to see how that match plays out next week.

Barcelona has to make the quarterfinal like I said some weeks ago because it has been included in the club's budget so it will be interesting to see how Xavi and the boys go up against Napoli. Napoli might probably play without Victor Osimhen because he just finished playing the AFCON but who knows he could be called back immediately to participate in the match next week. Looking forward to the game and I hope Barca goes in and wins it. So guys that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
