Protecting Your Crypto: Essential Security Measures and Lessons Learned

Source

Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. It's the weekend once again, and I will bring you more crypto-related topics. Today, I will be writing about security. This has to be said and written many times for users both new and old in the crypto space don't let their guard down because a little slip-up might just cause all your assets to be lost forever that is why all of us must keep to date with new security news and updates on scams happening in the crypto space to maximize security on our wallet.

So a couple of days ago, a friend of mine got her telegram wallet compromised without her even knowing not until I found out. I was checking out the projects I recently invited her to join and participate in, and it just hit me that I should check her telegram wallet for no reason. Once I logged into the wallet I decided to check the transaction history of the wallet and found out a transaction had been carried out from her account a couple of weeks ago without her knowledge and immediately we both knew who moved her token from her wallet because the user name was clearly showing on the chart history.

It prompted me to quickly check the devices connected to the wallet, and instantly, it showed the device connected to her wallet. The device was active on her wallet six hours ago when I checked and immediately I logged the device out from the wallet and quickly set up two-factor authentication and a fingerprint pass lock to protect the wallet from any further infiltration in the future.

After talking with my friend she explained how she gave a friend her phone to perform a transaction when I was not around and after connecting the dots there was no other explanation that the individual she gave her phone to perform the transaction logged her account into his mobile phone.

This is one of the reasons why we should never share our passwords or keys with anyone because they are private and meant for only you to use at any time. It is also important to set a two-factor- authentication on our wallet as it will give a notification whenever our wallet wants to get compromised by a scammer or even people we least expect.

Keeping your wallet secured is a top priority that everyone in the crypto space has to take seriously and if you don't understand how to back up your account you can ask for assistance and make sure to watch every step the person takes so that you will be able to change it immediately the person is done putting you through the stages.

It is also important that you don't store your keys on your phone but rather in a book and not just one but multiple books which should be kept in different places. Every day is a chance to learn new security measures to stay safe from hackers. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by, and have a good day.

I take a similar approach with encrypted USB, have four duplicates that update frequently and only use to access funds, besides that I just keep them safe, people often keep keys on their computer, phone or browser for the convenience of it like anything else on tech, its always the same story, systems dont fail although we are the main flaw 😜
