Premier League Spending vs. La Liga’s Financial Struggles: The Tebas Effect

Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. The transfer window is closed, and now clubs are registering their new players in their different leagues and the Champions League for the new season. Today I read a post about Premier League clubs spending over 3 billion euros in the transfer window this summer, which is kind of not a new thing for the league. Still, I can't help but wonder if those numbers can ever be implemented in a transfer window by La Liga clubs.

Laliga clubs, in general, spending up to 1 billion euros in the transfer market will be a miracle at this point because of the strict financial laws surrounding the league, which was created and implemented by Laliga President Javier Tebas. Since he got into the office, the level at which he has run the league has been different, affecting some clubs in the league. The 1:1 rule has been his blueprint since he became president, and this rule simply means you are allowed to spend what you bring in as revenue into the club.

Clubs like Barcelona, Sevilla and others are having a hard time operating under the 1:1 rule as heavy restrictions are enforced on these clubs until they meet all the requests necessary to operate under this rule. Registration of players has become a tough process in the league as each club is given a salary cap to operate, and once it is breached, it will be impossible to register new signings. I remember mentioning in one of my posts how some clubs in La Liga have failed to register their players before the league began this month.

Some clubs had to be forced to make sales of their top players just to be able to complete registration of their players, which is not the way it should be, because how do these clubs now compete in the league when their key players are being sold off just so the club can register players? In the Premier League, it is a lot different as clubs are allowed to spend as much with the help of the SPR, which Liverpool was able to use during their summer window. If Barcelona were able to spend the kind of amount Liverpool spent this summer, I promise you they won't even be able to register one of their new players in the league.

This is why Premier League teams can go into the transfer window and spend a lot of money, even though Sunderland has more purchasing power than some La Liga clubs in the transfer market. The big concern is that if this pattern in running the league doesn't change, we will be seeing more clubs in La Liga falling into bankruptcy and having low-quality squads to compete in the league. Things have to change and the first step is for Tebas to leave that seat as president of the league. The man is always making the headlines, and if we think for a second, we will notice that we barely hear of Premier League presidents or other league presidents being called out by clubs.

It is always him who is in the media getting attention for the wrong things. It is high time the clubs in La Liga come out together and put an end to the way the league has been run by Javier Tebas. So, guys, this will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
